Nervous about the game today and tomorrow vs the Sens. We know we are gonna make the playoffs but we need to beat these bubble teams. Jack needs to go off. Buffalo is going to be giving it all in tonight's game. The Devils need to come out hot and not fall behind like we have been doing way too much.

I'll be at the game on Saturday, and my in person record is pretty good this year. So hopefully that helps.

I am super torn on the best playoff match.

The best case: Devils beat out the Canes and the Pens beat out Islanders for WC #1 spot.

The years the Islanders went to the eastern conference finals, they snuck into the playoffs. Sorkin may be the best non-tandem goalie in the playoffs. .925 and 5 shutouts.

It just shows the east will be a bloodbath. It will be interesting to see if that helps or hurts the victor.

(I though the Lightning were too banged up last year)

Finishing off a series quickly maybe the path to success…

Go Devils.

Is our magic number one or two? I’m seeing different things on both twitter and IG.

It's 2, we have 98 points, looking at the wild card standings, Washington who is in 4th can only max out at 94 so they can't catch us. Florida is in 3rd and can max out at 99 but if we only get 1 point tonight there's a whole bunch of tie breakers that they could technically beat us on if they won out and we lost out.

Start by looking at us:

New Jersey has 98 points with 11 games remaining, meaning 22 points still on the table. And 33 regulation wins (RW), which is the first tie breaker.

Now look at the 9th best team in points percentage, who is Florida. Florida has 79 points and 10 games remaining for 20 points still on the table. They also have 31 (RW).

IF New Jersey lost every remaining game in regulation AND Florida one every remaining game in regulation, the stats would look like:

NJ: 98 points, 33 RW
Florida: 99 points, 43 RW

Florida makes it outright and we miss the playoffs.

What if Florida wins out in regulation, but NJ gets one point?

NJ: 99 points, 33 RW
Florida: 99 points, 43 RW

In this scenario, we tie in points but FLA gets the tiebreaker. So we miss out.

Since the RW tie breaker is still in play, the only way to clinch is to do so outright by getting 1 more point than Florida could possibly get under the best scenario. Since they can max out at 99 (79 points earned + 20 on the table), we need 100. Then we will clinch regardless of what Florida does.

100 points clinches, we have 98 points. Magic number is 2. Mathematically we could get 1 point the rest of the season and still miss due to tiebreakers..

Go Devils.

I'll take anyone, this team deserves to be believed in no matter who the opponent is. Islanders are probably their most "realistic" worst matchup but I still think the Devils beat them in 6-7 and it might be worse if Barzal is ruled out for that series early on. No Barzal and they have no shot with keeping up with this team's speed. I think if the Panthers sneak in they'll get Boston at this point. The Rangers do not scare me in the slightest and the Penguins who are so Jekyll and Hyde that it's insane.

To me, it makes no difference. Win a game and we're in for sure. I'd rather confidently clinch the playoffs with a dominating win, rather than back in because some other team lost.

We'll be in the playoffs, it's a matter of seeding and our first round opponent now.

If we clinch, Haula will continue his streak of never missing the playoffs.

He's been our whipping boy this year but we're out of the playoffs +running tankathon sims about Bedard + Michkov + Carlsson if we needed Pavel Zacha to play LW1+C1 next to Hughes this year. And there's a reason why a guy like Haula hasn't missed the playoffs, he's actually very effective for his role.

I wouldn't go that far, but he has played his role as well as I could have hoped for sure.

200 foot players just don't get the credit they deserve and how Nico gets criticized and overlooked is beyond me...Produces and plays the full sheet SMH
I think there was secific credit to NOT give a credit to Nico especially. People love to hate, love to make wrong conclusions, choice an enemy for themselves, may be find a person to laugh on. It's an intoxicating feeling of mocking someone who isn't "good enough". Moreover, everyone has their own measure of this goodness, and a person himself makes a judge decision on which bar not good enough person should jump to.

You can easily find masseges, that Nico isn`t worth not only first pick, but even second or even third or even fourth.
It would be interesting how good this team would be with ppg two-way Selki level center, but with Robertson or Heiskanen.

So do you like our roster? Meh. Nico is a bad pick. It should be Makar. Like everybody knows that pick was between Nico and Makar in the moment you know.
The most fun part, I know a person from different social media place, who was literally crying every day about we didn`t pick Makar. Really. Every day. And when Devils decided to pick Nemec, he immidietly called it a bad pick and that we should picked Wright. Because most consolidated opinion.
After the season will going on, some people starting to cry about Jiricek. And how Nemec pick was bad becuase even if we wanted to pick defenseman, we should pick Jiricek. "Look at his production". But if you would have a chance, you could figure it out, that most part of Jiricek production is goin from PP, and Nemec is much more mobile and accurate as defenseman. And he is younger too.

People forgot about how to love and chear for their players.

I mean he's been huge for our PK which was middle of the road last year to top 10 this year, stabilized Hughes a ton early on. I obviously don't think he's the reason why we're good, that'd be foolish to say but saying he wasn't a good piece for this team would be underselling him.

What an absolute dream first year as the PBP guy, hot diggity.

He’s been great too - honestly just an impressively seamless transition. Instant chemistry with Dano too. We really couldn’t have asked for a better Cangi replacement. I feel bad Cangi had to endure all of those years and then as soon as he leaves, this type of season happens.

Happy for Erika, Sal, and Dano. No more needing to try to fake excitement for like game 64 of a season that’s realistically already been over for several months.

Yessir, we’ve been lucky as fans to have the squad we have covering our games. They’re like a little family.
