Graves - biggest question mark

Tatar- easily bring him back

Wood- cya, thanks for the memories, hopefully Lou offers him a stupid deal

Haula - yes depending what he wants on term/AAV

Bo/Bastian - yes

McLeod - pass, Lazar is an easy replacement

Severson - would love to bring him back but Nemec is around the corner and I'm sure a smart team will offer him a ton with how he's been this year

Yegor - I think he's trade bait but could easily come back, interested to see what happens with him

Bratt/Meier - obvious yes's, Bratt has probably lost some money with the late February and March that he's having

Blackwood - If they bring him back, he has nudes on Fitz or someone in management
Pretty much agree on all of these.

It’s a big f*** no to Blackwood and Wood. I don’t care if Wood scores a playoff series clinching goal or if Blackwood comes back and has the best game a goalie has had for us all year.

I’m really sure Wood is gone. Like positively sure.

I’m not so sure with Blackwood, but we shouldn’t pay a mediocre goalie like him over $3 million. Not even for one year. We made that mistake with Wood last year. We may not be able to get a better goalie than Blackwood for $3 million next year, at least not for only one year and no term, but that’s all the more reason to just go with Schmid. Even if Schmid sucks it will be at league minimum. Not $3+ million. Blackwood has been overpaid all 3 years of this deal, but there’s nothing we could have done about that because the deal was very fair for what he had done prior to this deal. It could have been really ugly if Fitz gave him the AAV Rob Blake gave worthless Cal Petersen.

There’s no need to give him a fourth year of overpayment though.

McLeod is more than fine, but not at much more than what he’s making right now. He’s really not worth $2 million per or god forbid more than that.

Bratt is going to be very affordable and may yet "settle" for Fiala's contract in the end. (wishful thinking mode ACTIVATE!)

Just saw this pic and can’t believe I haven’t made the connection before, but have Lia and Ryan Graves been spotted in the same place at the same time? :sarcasm:

I agree with most of this besides McLeod; I think his importance is undertsated.

Faceoffs dont mean a lot but they sure as hell do on some draws and hes been money in those situations, especially so if we replace Haula with a worse-faceoff taker. Also his defense is good by my eye test; he has a very active stick and a motor to match his wheels. His playmaking has also gotten better (for a fourth liner of course).

Severson I have no desire to keep unless we plan on trading him year 2 when Nemec comes up (which is unheard of) or he takes a short term deal (doubtful).

Graves I think would be easier (though still unlikely) to get on a short term deal and we could always try Bahl at RD.

I feel like Graves is going to cash in somewhere. Probably his last chance to get a sizeable deal. Washington and Columbus will be teams with cap space the need for a veteran top 4 LD. Maybe LA if they don't extend Gavrikov.

Market for Tatar might not be much better than it was a couple years ago. Looking at depth charts and Washington could probably use a vet 2LW behind Ovechkin. We'll see if the team can commit to Tatar or if they have to reserve the cap space for Bratt/Meier. Plus we might need to open up a spot for Holtz anyways.

I'm a little surprised Vancouver spent a 1st on Hronek instead of waiting to talk to Severson, although I suppose they could carve out cap space if they can find a taker for Tyler Myers. Myers has a 5 mil signing bonus and only 1 mil in salary next year, so he'd be very tradeable after July 1 (looking in Ottawa's general direction).

Nothing about Vancouver should surprise you at this point.

If the cap only goes up 1m then I don’t know if I would call any cap dump with a 6m cap hit “very tradable”.

One of the selling points of Hronek is he only makes 4.4m.

They have a couple big raises with Miller jumping to 8m and Kuzmenko to 5.5m. They have the most salary, 84.23m, already committed next season.

That team is really something.

Specifically Ottawa could be interested since they'd care more about only paying Myers his salary if Vancouver ate the signing bonus. But we'll see see if their spending habits change with new ownership. Next year they have:

Chabot-Chychrun
Sanderson-Zub
Brannstrom?-(Bernard-Docker/Thomson)

If Arizona's not on Myers' no trade, he'd be a perfect guy for them. Minimal salary, maximum cap hit. Or maybe Chicago could talk themselves into being able to trade Myers for more at the trade deadline than they would to get him.

On the other hand. I was VERY surprised to see a canucks fan in attendance last night at The Rock sitting next to me.

My favorite random memory was attending the 2010 Draft in LA. There was a Canucks fan a couple rows in front of me and he had printed out sheets of rankings. After sitting through 2+ hours, Vancouver traded its first rounder. The guy threw the papers in the air and stormed off.

How could he not enjoy a thrilling blockbuster trade like this:

What an incredible trade.

The Panthers got:
Grabner had one more year left on his ELC. The Panthers immediately lost him however when the Islanders grabbned him off of waivers before the 2010-11 season.

Grabner had a breakout season and came in 3rd in Calder voting. Oh Florida.

E61B4463-F392-481E-8836-1A69A0709661.jpeg

Bernier was a UFA, he signed his first of three contracts with the Devils that off-season.

Center Quinton Howden played 92 games for the Panthers, then 5 more with the Jets when he signed a two-way deal with them in 2016-17. Then he went to play in Europe.

So the Canucks must have won the trade, right? Dear reader, they in fact did not.

They ditched LHD Willie Mitchell to make room for LHD Keith Ballard.

They had Ballard from 2010-13. He had 148 GP in the regular season (out of 246) and 14 GP in the playoffs (out of 30). Ballard had a 3.3m cap hit.

Willie Mitchell had 203 GP in the regular season and 44 GP in the playoffs (out of 52 GP). Mitchell got 3.5m from the Kings.

In July 2013 Vancouver used one of it’s two Compliance buyouts to get out of Ballard’s last two years without it counting against the cap.

So they could have just re-signed MItchell and been better off.

Victor Oreskovich played two seasons with the Vancouver organization, 17 GP in the NHL (plus 19 GP in the 2011 Playoffs) & 68 in the AHL, and then retired due to injury.

Wow.

Seems like they got it lol. Would expect Timo to be used correctly on the PP next game.

Meier needs to be in Bratt's spot on the right side as a shooting option on the PP. I'd like to see Mercer replace Bratt or even Palat could be a better fit. You improve PP2 as well.

Bratt with Mercer and Boqvist?

You know something? I'm not against that.

Bratt started his tear early this season, I believe, with Mercer and Johnsson.

Johnsson is gone but Boqvist would be an obvious upgrade.
