Half of Facebook Devils fans, “What happened last game that injured him?”

I’m not a doctor but due to the repeated shoulder injuries I won’t be surprised to hear he’s getting surgery. It seems like other hockey players have been about a 5 months recovery from those.
Shutting him down for the season maybe. Acknowledgment of the obvious and acceptance of what is.

Frustrating as Hell that 3 or 4 games won would have made the difference.

bumping this hypothetical from yesterday..... any thoughts/opinions?
The only way I see them looking to move him is if they think he won't be good next year and are looking to cash out on him when his value could be at its absolute highest. Because if he's not so good next year, his value is probably lower.

And if they do look to move him this summer I really have no interest in him, unless it was for much cheaper than they'll be looking to trade him for, if he indeed is traded. I don't think he will be.

Jack is dope,

But it oddly feels like the Hughes’ run this team and its concerning. Jack playing injured, Lukes usage on the PP, and lack of accountability when he was slumping.

I have a hard time following the playoffs, once the Devils are out.

Watching the NFL playoffs are easy, fantasy sports gives me insights on players, I would normally dislike. 1 game. Simple.

I even prefer the MLB and NBA playoffs over NHL playoffs minus the Devils. Is there a way nobody wins if the Devils are out?

My summer will be consumed, nervously waiting, for updates on the Devils new coaching staff.

Would it be too much to ask for a timetable and some clarity on Jack's situation once they do officially shut him down for the season?

Players play through injury. Timo played most of the season injured. Nico looks like he’s going to throw up from pain every couple games. Of course our franchise player was going to try to play if he was cleared by doctors.

Luke hit the wall and pushed through the other end. If anything it validates his usage — and it’s not as though the rest of our pathetic left handed dmen deserved more minutes. I would’ve like Nemec to get a look on PP1 but he wasn’t particularly good on the PP this season and had more of an issue with guys getting behind him than Luke (without the speed to recover too).

So it was obvious enough that this team deserved to have its top goal scorer and a couple of other pieces traded at the deadline…yet they felt obligated to delay shutting Jack down for the season until the very last minute, which will now possibly lead to a very tight timeframe between his recovery and the start of next season.

I f***ing despise how this team is managed.

It's all about the $$$. Shelling it out. Bringing it in. The organization wasn't going to pay Toffoli what he most likely would want. Gotta keep Jack playing to keep him happy AND bring in the casual fans (read spend their $$$) who hear about him and want to see him play, but don't really follow the team religiously enough to realize he's a shell of what he's been.

NO! REALLY? NO f***ING SHIT.

The fact that he needs surgery and they strung it out this long is reprehensible.
I probably would’ve pushed him to have this done a while ago…but at the same time, if we didn’t have that pathetic run of blown leads, we’d still be battling for the playoffs. It’s hard to tell a guy to get a surgery to repair something he can technically play through.

See my post above about $$$. This organization sucks. Winning isn't the priority, nor is the future. It was and always will be about now and how much money can be made NOW. Yeah, he'll be ready for training camp assuming everything goes according to plan. But what if it doesn't? Maybe the extra month or so would come into play by shutting him down earlier.

EDIT: And yet I'll still be watching tonight. And Thursday. And Saturday. And Monday. Damn.

I don’t get the bitching about Luke on the PP. With Dougie out, Luke was the best option on the PP.

I sort of understood it when Luke was slumping but he’s been our best defenseman for the month. And now Nemec looks like the guy who slammed headfirst into the rookie wall.

Not sure what people were seeing with Nemec on the PP vs Luke.

For instance, Luke had 3 SH GA and Nemec had 5 SH GA, despite Luke playing ~270 minutes and Nemec playing 75 minutes.

And that Goal Differential isn’t fluky, opposing teams had way more offense when Nemec was on the PP.

Of course some of that is the fault of the rest of PP2, but Nemec has a harder time transitioning the puck out of the defensive zone and struggles more keeping it in the offensive zone.

Luke’s agility and speed allows him to correct turnovers in a way that Nemec, or most other defensemen can’t. He actually has very few turnovers at the blueline, less than Dougie, Severson, Smith, etc did.

We have an easier time getting the puck into the offensive zone, and keeping there, with Luke than we did with Dougie last season.

Dougie gives us an incredible 1-2 punch on the PP though and Luke’s minutes could have been more manageable with him in the line-up.

Again, I genuinely don’t understand why people see Luke’s PP time as indulgent.

Without looking at his medical chart, and spending 5 years in residency I don't think I can say it was a clear cut and obvious decision, but I don't trust the medical staff, or the FO that's now feeling the heat after a disastrous season.

I hope he can truly recover and no long term damage was done.
