They were a bubble team coming into the year and they'll comfortably make it at this rate, also they were literally people mocking him here after the Devils beat them a couple of weeks ago so
If they lose in the first round again in yet another tight six-game series, who gives a fig? If they make a Florida run circa last year then okay fine Fitz is a dunce.

Brunette hasn't yet done anything as a head coach which I'd consider punching above his weight - either there or with a Florida team that was already raking before he took over and went to the SCF the year after he left - as much as people want to make Nashville's roster this year sound bad, just like the Isles in the East you're always going to be competitive as long as you have goaltending and defense.

There isn't even really any goalie available at this point other than Markstrom, who Calgary clearly pissed off with their handling of the situation - and the corpse of Jake Allen.

Elliotte just said on Sportsnet he believes Markstrom is our #1 target, and if Fitz doesn't trade for a different goalie by the deadline, they will revisit a deal with Calgary over the summer.
How many more times will the can be kicked?

Well three...I'd give the players stick over the being soft mentally and physically part, it's not up to a coach to give them onions.

He's a dunce regardless with the Brunette situation, Lindy's lone good season here was with an elite assistant who's shown more recently than Ruff has. And Florida losing to TB wasn't his fault, lmao. His stars blatantly didn't show up in that series, how is that on the coach? That's like blaming Brindamour for the Canes series losses, everyone blames their forwards whenever they lose.

Never said it was, just saying it's not like the Panthers became good because of him - they were already trending way up under the psychopath who was made to resign when they started 7-0 - or missed him after he left. People act like he went in there Lemaire 2011 style and shaped everyone up lol. Them making the Finals the year after he left is an inconvenient part of the narrative the Brunette truthers gloss over.

Then by that logic why is Lindy suffering so much without Brunette with the talent he's had here? It's on par with Florida, if not better, skater wise

It's not like a frigging assistant is the only loss we've had between last season and this. Dougie being hurt, Jack/Timo playing hurt, losing two other members of the D to free agency and the goalies going to shit are all much bigger reasons for the downturn than an assistant coach. And that's not even getting into the whole Tatar/Shara/McLeod role player stuff and becoming more top-heavy, which is an issue when a couple of big top end pieces aren't playing particularly well.

They absolutely are not on par with Florida talent-wise, they have top-end players (with Jack and Timo taking turns underperforming) and a whole bunch of dross around them.

Lmao, a team that currently has Pavel Zacha and Charlie Coyle as their 1C and the biggest trade chip in net is gonna be for Tyler f***ing Toffoli. Good lord

Lately, I don't know if we can clutch onto the Jack/Timo playing hurt thing. Severson/Graves were not losses. Nemec has been on par with Severson if not better flat out + Graves is missed because of how piss Marino has looked all year, otherwise I couldn't care less but the HC is still playing his favorites even with Fitz lindyproofing the roster. No one thought Brendan Smith would play this much over Colin Miller or would be the preferred option, the powerplay literally looks horrible outside the hot first month. As much we bitched at Brunette for the average powerplay, he at least moved things around when things weren't working, Travis Green just has his thumb his ass the majority of the year. A better powerplay would've helped this team get a few wins out of the last month. And it has nothing to do with just losing him, it has to do with him being the actual HC as opposed to the turd we've seen melt seasons in seasons prior to 22-23.

You and others continue to gloss over the Dougie loss...it was ridiculously early in the season, it's not like they've JUST been replacing Severson and Graves - that's three top five guys including a 22-plus minute guy! At best they've replaced them with 1.5 top five guys with Luke's massive second-half falloff, and none of the new guys have stepped up on the PK yet to replace the latter two THERE. Clearly nobody's stepped up to replace Dougie on the PP.

Nemec only got in cause of the Dougie injury anyway so comparing him to Severson or Graves as if he was replacing them is a bit dishonest. Marino and Siegs going to shit are at least in part due to all the dross and green kids around them.

Because the Hamilton loss is evident, I can't defend that, I said multiple times to try Nemec on the PP1 even before Luke blatantly hit a wall and got met with "lolz just make Luke shoot more" and "Hughes is better regardless for the role". And no, I don't believe that. Siegs was legit worse with Hamilton this year than he was last year. For the people who said Siegs made Dougie, it's looking like the reverse is the case. Marino just looks off in general this year, he barely hits the stretch passes and looks like a dunce in the defensive zone multiple times a game. I don't buy the injuries excuse killing this team when the coaching staff did nothing for a month with our top 2 centers when the season could've been saved playing differently and then post ASB just randomly decided to switch the system for a week which worked and then all the players reverted back to playing the uptempo game again once small adversity hit them. Do you think Brunette has Nashville playing the same system he employed in Florida/probably here with far worse offensive talent?
