That's why Seattle doesn't have anybody there. By the time it was confirmed Beniers wasn't going to play they were already on their break. Who wants to walk away from time off with their family in the middle of a long season to go to the ASG?Another issue, IMO, with the All-Star event (skills and game) is league-wide everyone has an entire week off either before or after the weekend of the events. I'm willing to bet the majority of the players attending would much rather have the entire time off and not be anywhere near a rink but do so reluctantly. The entire event is forced with no real enthusiasm.
Although honestly, I stopped caring about the ASG a long time ago. It's supposed to be fun for the people who attend. It's not some sacred showcase of the game of hockey. And honestly, I'm not sure how you would actually make it better. How are you going to make the players actually care enough to not just skate around and half heartedly score after 14 passes because nobody wants to shoot?
