I read the Sports Forecaster's yearly yearbook, and just wanted to drop this one off here:

the thing with players like Marino is they are almost never going to be fan favorites, since they don't provide much offense and their "job" is to limit the opposition. His skillset was one that was sorely needed on this team....a guy that can be at least competent defensively and that can skate the puck out of our own end well. The Devils have enough offensively talented DMen (both present and on the verge of making it) that I don't care much if Marino doesn't score a ton.

thats why its kind of crazy that Siegenthaler is so well liked...though A) he passes the eye test and B) his underlying defensive numbers are tremendous
Which is kind of funny, since there's a contingent of this forum that always wants to sign another defensive-defenseman (or several of them) because we ''Have too many offense first D'' and some even wanna do away with Severson every offseason.

Although, it seems like most of our fans are happy with Marino and it's really just the one Pens fan that doesn't seem to be big on him.

Can I bet against Zacha almost doubling his goals per game rate for his career?

This has a bit of Gomez leaving the Devils vibe. “Oh, that old team didn’t know how to use him. We will unlock his true powers”

It also has a bit of a Zacha last offseason for some of the board vibe. :sarcasm:

Since the patches are coming anyway just use Jersey Mike's (sans the blue part), let them replace nasty ass Thumann's throughout the arena, and be done with it.

Zacha could hit that if he plays the entire season with Bostons best forwards.

Big if.
Great, let them sign him to a long expensive UFA deal and watch when he reverts to his usual results because he can't sustain high effort for a long term and once he has to carry the water instead of riding the coattails of Bergeron and Krejci he's the same up and down guy he's always been but at a much higher price.

We have distributed some of our flowers, now we are distributing weeds like roses. Islanders were poisoned, now it`s Boston`s time.

Marino probably won't satisfy that contingent because he doesn't hit. You need a hitting defenseman, someone who makes the other team afraid.

I bought and read these Sports Forecaster magazines every year when I was young. I thought they were an entertaining read, but they always MASSIVELY overprojected the stats every year.

I’m not sure about Russia but in the US you need a license to distribute weed. I’m not sure if that will apply to Zacha however
If we talk about weed as bad grass, you can do whatever you want, if we talk about "good specific grass with effects", its illegal here. Sign Zacha on the long term should be illegal do. That's much more harder stuff.

Bored today. Roast me for these projected forward point totals.

Sharangovich - 31-28-59 Hughes - 37-52 89 Holtz 22-18 40
Bratt - 27-50 77 Hischier - 23-45 68 Mercer 21-35 56
Tatar - 16-24 40 Haula 12-20 32 Palat 19-30 49
Zetterlund 11-13 24 Boqvist - 8-10 22 Bastian 14-10 24
6 is the average amount of 20 goal scorers per team so I'd say that this is probably pretty close for goals individually. I just hope Hischier and Hughes play a combined 155 games.

That looks about right to me for 82 game paces.

With decent goaltending and health that’s probably close to a playoff team if not a wild card shoo in but I’m skeptical Holtz opens the season in the NHL and given the investment they will probably play Johnsson. Ugh. Also variance being what it is someone will struggle for whatever reason. Good thoughts overall.

Let's hope Holtz will light it up, and Fitz will just trade half of Johnsson salary and 3rd round pick for future considerations. Or something like that. 5th round pick like in Butcher case would be a huge win.
