I think HBK27 is not confident that Fitz can re-sign Bratt to a long-term deal.

I am cautiously optimistic myself but I can understand where he's coming from.

That was Lebrun's quote, not mine.

I'm really hopeful that Fitz is able to sign Bratt long-term - no idea if it will actually happen or not.

A bunch of Jack Hughes quotes in there. He would get rid of the coaches challenge if he could change a rule, as one thing.
i dont even understand why there is such a thing as coaches challenges when every goal should just automatically be reviewed like it was in the past. get rid of the "war room" and have each rink have its video reviews in house like they use to have.

Every goal is reviewed like it was in the past, what are you talking about? The coaches' challenge does not apply to things like being kicked in or being shot in with a high stick, those plays are automatically reviewed in Toronto.

Having 32 different standards for what is and is not a goal is also a terrible idea. The War Room is far from perfect, but they do pretty well considering.

Because the Cult of Get It Right is fully in charge. And sometimes coaches' challenges still get it wrong.

I don’t mind them reviewing the goals themselves, but the pubic hair offsides challenge is annoying AF.

was watching a video about who would be alternate captains for each nhl team and they chose Hughes for us. It made me wonder that if Hischier couldn't be captain anymore who would be the best fit?

Hughes might be obvious but I feel like I wouldn't want to pile more responsibility onto him and rather him just keep doing what he's doing. That left me in quite the pickle to choose someone else and I thought Siegenthaler would be the best fit for Captain. Personally I think shutdown defenseman lend well to a captaincy.

Anyone have any different choices?

All respect to Siegenthaler, but I don't think he'd be on my short list for the "C". Maybe as an alternate one day.

I think Jack is the only one that jumps out. HIs talent, enthusiasm, and contract status all make sense for a captain. Mercer might also be the type to grow into that over the years. Dougie should be in the conversation, but I think Jack would be the better choice.

This probably speaks to my age and the fact that I grew up watching the 3 Cup wins but I would like a Captain that can hold his own against most players physically and one who will be durable come playoff time.

I also thought of Mercer but it just seemed wrong to deny Hughes but then give it to a younger Mercer. Dougie is a good player and a good "A" but him being moved around so much in the NHL makes him feel to "free spirited" to be captain.

Who wore the A's last year? CapFriendly has Severson and Wood listed.

Given his experience, I wonder if Palat gets one?

On the 32 Thoughts podcast today, Jack was talking about the extra responsibility that comes with wearing the C that Nico has to deal with and it sounded like he was glad to not have to worry about it.
