Jeeez relax..
Not only did you misunderstand my whole post, you're making this a way bigger argument than it should. You're pouring all your pent up hate and arguments over me. People claimed they didn't care if players leaving the team get better and players coming in get worse. So I hypothetically suggested that would they still feel the same if Ty Smith and Zacha become stars and all our new acquisitions fail. Then I played devils advocate and brought out some examples of stat declining after joining the team. OFCOURSE there's more to it, and I don't really even care, I was just trying to call out bullshit from Zacha haters.
I'm finnish so I'm sorry if my posts are sometimes hard to understand.
I guess I was lumping you in with other posters who made vaguely similar claims, and you got the full brunt of it. I also don’t like being accused of not caring about this team because I interpret things differently. I apologize if I came across as very harsh though, I do admit I dumped a lot at you personally.
I was actually a recent Zacha apologist. I all but gave up on the guy after the 2019-20 season, which some people weirdly overrate because he had a bunch of assists. He was actually dreadful that year.
He took a nice strep forward in a lot of underlying areas in 2020-21. I actually stuck my neck out and predicted that while his finishing would likely cool, if was like it was 2018-19, he was still be in excellent shape (5v5: 20-21 13.85% & 18-19: 11.11%).
Dear Reader, Zacha shot worse than that 5v5 last season.
As bad as 2017-18 (5.95%) or 2019-20 (5.26%)? Nope, but not particularly good either (7.92%).
And this is a bit worrisome because he actually shot more in 2017-18.
That was the other reason I gave up on him in 2019-20, I thought he might have a somewhat common problem. When he tries to score more goals by a lot shooting more, the pucks don’t go in.
BUT, I like the way he shot last season, his expected goals were above his actual goals this year, while the reverse was true in 2020-21.
The one amusing thing about this, is sure, I do believe he can have a very good season on the Bruins. I also wrote this about the Bruins/Carolina playoff series:
Wow, this is basically two very talented teams that finish less than a 100 year old man after he swallowed a bottle of anti-depressants.
Telling a Bruins fan that Zacha could work out gream for them… if he doesn’t shoot like dog crap can’t be the most comforting message considering the Bruins were 31st team in 5v5 shooting % in the NHL last season. (It was 7.26%, only LA was worse with 6.79%.)
At all strengths, they were 30th with 8.54%, LA was 8.2% & Philly was 8.27%.
The Bruins PP’s shooting % was 23rd with 12.72%.
The Hurricanes weren’t nearly as bad overall: 5v5 (11th, 8.74%), PP (14th, 14.01%) & All Strengths (13th, 9.90%).
They did slip badly as the year went on, in their last 30 games: 5v5 (29th, 7.51%), PP (28th, 9.68%)
& All Strengths (25th, 8.98%).
That’s likely why they’re rolling the dice with a year of Pacioretty.
