It's weird we can have this many pages about Bratt with literally no news, no info and absolutely nothing happening.

This is why I am advocating for a fried chicken discussion.

It's summer time after all.
I've got a list of great places out in Chicago. Now that I'm looking to move back to NJ I'll have to find some good options there.

We'll, dunno about NJ, but in the city I'm partial to Bobwhite Counter in alphabet city. I also liked Pies and Thighs, but they shut down their Manhattan location and are in Brooklyn only.

Fool me once… shame on you
Fool me twice… shame on me
Fool me three times… no, you absolutely don’t let it get to three terrible negotiations and you trade him if he’s only signing a 1 year deal
Hush you, or I'm gonna take you out of the prospects poll. Permanently.

Haven't tried it. But I'd like to. There are two places I just googled in Edison that aren't that far from me. Boom boom chicken and Seoul Fried chicken.

soy garlic is a great starting point. if you can handle heat, go for the spicy, but be warned!

It’s as if you and @My3Sons havent seen that I’ve been producing at the Highest level for years now. It’s not even this “underlying” numbers BS, I’m flat out putting up points year after year. I’m kindve offended

Jeeez relax.. :D
Not only did you misunderstand my whole post, you're making this a way bigger argument than it should. You're pouring all your pent up hate and arguments over me. People claimed they didn't care if players leaving the team get better and players coming in get worse. So I hypothetically suggested that would they still feel the same if Ty Smith and Zacha become stars and all our new acquisitions fail. Then I played devils advocate and brought out some examples of stat declining after joining the team. OFCOURSE there's more to it, and I don't really even care, I was just trying to call out bullshit from Zacha haters.

I'm finnish so I'm sorry if my posts are sometimes hard to understand.
I guess I was lumping you in with other posters who made vaguely similar claims, and you got the full brunt of it. I also don’t like being accused of not caring about this team because I interpret things differently. I apologize if I came across as very harsh though, I do admit I dumped a lot at you personally.

I was actually a recent Zacha apologist. I all but gave up on the guy after the 2019-20 season, which some people weirdly overrate because he had a bunch of assists. He was actually dreadful that year.

He took a nice strep forward in a lot of underlying areas in 2020-21. I actually stuck my neck out and predicted that while his finishing would likely cool, if was like it was 2018-19, he was still be in excellent shape (5v5: 20-21 13.85% & 18-19: 11.11%).
Dear Reader, Zacha shot worse than that 5v5 last season.

As bad as 2017-18 (5.95%) or 2019-20 (5.26%)? Nope, but not particularly good either (7.92%).

And this is a bit worrisome because he actually shot more in 2017-18.

That was the other reason I gave up on him in 2019-20, I thought he might have a somewhat common problem. When he tries to score more goals by a lot shooting more, the pucks don’t go in.

BUT, I like the way he shot last season, his expected goals were above his actual goals this year, while the reverse was true in 2020-21.

The one amusing thing about this, is sure, I do believe he can have a very good season on the Bruins. I also wrote this about the Bruins/Carolina playoff series:

Wow, this is basically two very talented teams that finish less than a 100 year old man after he swallowed a bottle of anti-depressants.

Telling a Bruins fan that Zacha could work out gream for them… if he doesn’t shoot like dog crap can’t be the most comforting message considering the Bruins were 31st team in 5v5 shooting % in the NHL last season. (It was 7.26%, only LA was worse with 6.79%.)

At all strengths, they were 30th with 8.54%, LA was 8.2% & Philly was 8.27%.

The Bruins PP’s shooting % was 23rd with 12.72%.

The Hurricanes weren’t nearly as bad overall: 5v5 (11th, 8.74%), PP (14th, 14.01%) & All Strengths (13th, 9.90%).
They did slip badly as the year went on, in their last 30 games: 5v5 (29th, 7.51%), PP (28th, 9.68%)
& All Strengths (25th, 8.98%).
That’s likely why they’re rolling the dice with a year of Pacioretty.

Pretty sure Ullmark signed a multi-year contract on the arb date no? Pretty sure @Guttersniped brought it up a few days back.
No, Ullmark signed two 1 year deals after filing for arbitration, he signed a 5 year deal as a UFA with Boston in the 2021 off-season.

In 2019 Ullmark filed and they went to arbitration but settled before a verdict (which is no longer possible). Ullmark got a 1 year/1.325m deal. In the arbitration filings Buffalo’s offer was 800k & Persson’s ask was 2.65m.

In 2020 Ullmark’s hearing was scheduled for Oct 26 and he signed a 1 year/2.6m deal on Oct 25th. In the arbitration filings Buffalo’s offer was 1.8m & Persson’s ask was 4.1m.

He also filed for arbitration in 2020 with Gustav Forsling but he signed a 1 year/ 700k on Oct 23rd, we’ll before his Nov 2nd hearing.

Forsling was an RFA but he signed his current 3 year/2.67m deal on July 15, 2021.

I said he wasn't playing especially well on the PP. And that putting Bratt in that spot made more sense.

But his production rate did crash when he was taken off the top pp unit, which as you note is not surprising.

So I'm not making up a narrative. You're making up a narrative that I was making up a narrative.

Both Nico and Zacha squeezed by Hughes? That doesn't add up.

Nico was top unit all season, in large part because of his faceoff abilities. Hasn't been great on the PP though.
His production didn’t crash when he was taken off the pp. His production crashed first and then because of that he was taken off the pp.
Suggesting he was as taken off the pp and because of that his production fell off his simply not true and is just bs.

Had a tomato and lettuce sandwich today on white bread. That's peak summer food. Little mayo, salt, and pepper. It was divine.

No, 1-year deal makes him an RFA.
That's what I thought. Thanks.
No, but it allows him to negotiate an extension with another team as part of a trade.
Oh so in theory we get to do all of this again for a third time. If we only get one year done this time I'm moving him. I love Bratt, I'd love for him to sign a 8 year deal, but come on. He went off this year, no doubt about it, but his previous career high was like 35 points. Would I give him Nico money? Sure. Jack? Sure, but he doesn't want it now, I am moving him.

Starting to think anything other than a 1 year deal is a very long shot.

Also starting to wonder who is the long term replacement for him.

Life is crazy, would Palmieri be the gritty top 6 forward we are looking for? He was atrocious at evens and on the PP towards the end of his Devils career, but a part of me thinks he brings something different than what we currently have.

OAN, Tatar is a ballerina in the corners.

All this fried chicken talk is gonna force me to order Bon Chon from Newark Ave, damn you all.

And whatever the story is with Bratt, I'm now at the point I am with the MLB trade deadline: Jesus Christ, let's just get there and see what happens, can't take hypotheticals anymore.

His contract makes absolutely no sense to bring in and he is likely only going to continue to get worse. He wasn't worth his cap hit in year 1, I certainly do not want to see years 4 and 5.

After Palat, we can't really afford to take on additional old forwards.

His production on the top unit was not good, still best on the team during the first quarter of the season(Bratt and Nico each had 2 pp points through 20 games), but certainly not good. When he was taken off the top unit his pp production was pretty much non existent. 4 points through 20, 4 points the final 60. Which isn't that surprising given our PP was terrible in general, so yeah the 2nd unit is going to be really terrible.

But if he were to keep the not good pace of the first 20, that's an additional 8 points, which puts him at a 51 point pace for the season. Heck who knows, perhaps if he stayed on the top unit and found his groove, he may have bettered his early pace in the 2nd half of the year. Get him back near the 57 point pace from last year.

No, the two missing pieces would be ironically the two best players for the Devils in the 2010's. A goalie like Schneider and a winger like Taylor Hall would make this team absolutely insane. Palmieri was cooked in 2021, not sure what Lou saw in him to trade for him.

I think we get Bratt signed. I think he just wants to get paid. Not sure if the devils are offering him a lot I wouldn’t be surprised if they are lowballing Bratt. If we had to trade him I wouldn’t mind a Bratt for Meier swap

According to Natstat this was his best season in terms of 5v5 shot rate. Slightly better than 17-18, and last year. Little bit more distinction if we look at iCF rate.
