I'm just waiting for the "Devils trade for Taylor Hall" to come across the news ticker before I'm fully all in on the devils winning the lotto.
Feel likes it's about a 99 percent chance that the Blackhawks snag #1

I am once again imploring the majority of this place to actually watch the playoffs and stop advocating for overpaying a top goalie. And no, you aren't getting a top tier goalie at a reasonable price, especially when the UFA class is trash.

It's the NHL in 2024 folks. It's been obvious for a decade plus that big $$$ goalies rarely win cups. Further, a goalie doesn't drag an average or even above average team to the Cup anymore. Very rare.

This roster has too many holes and too mediocre of a prospect pipeline to reasonably acquire a top tier goalie....without completely screwing the rest of the roster.

This places darling Hellebuyck? Gone and played poorly. Saros? Gone. Sorokin? Bench duty. Vasy? Gone.

If you don't "luck" into developing a homegrown top tier goalie, your only realistic option in today's NHL is to find one or two that are simply good enough. Kahkonen trade made perfect sense. Unfortunately, the Allen trade was more Tom Fitzgerald buffoonery. The value made zero sense and unnecessarily complicates the 2024 goalie situation further. No clue what was so difficult about re-signing Kahkonen and adding another middling goalie in UFA. But sure let's just light a 3rd on fire (or laughable 2nd conditions).

We can easily acquire an above average goalie without screwing the rest of the roster. Easily. The question is, which one?

Trading a 3rd for Allen is fine. I don't love it, I don't hate it. I get why they did it. Acting like this was some sort of horrific trade that craters the franchise is....nonsense.

thank you for listing our goalies this year! Much appreciated sir!

I don't expect it to be a factor or matter, just want to make sure I have the right of it, but the Nemec win counted for the new rules, right? So if we win it this year, we can't win for another 3 years?

I don't mean to nitpick this, but putting Vasy on that list with all the other goalies that were eliminated is insane.

Allen has a 1.925m cap hit for one season.

“No clue what was so difficult about re-signing Kahkonen”

It still could happen but 1) he might want to play elsewhere 2) get a silly offer from another team.

Yes.
