I feel like I have been very vocal about my criticisms of Alex Holtz. I want to see him succeed. He had a great preseason last year, was given like one game worth of opportunity to begin to feel out the NHL game, and immediately shuffled up and down the lineup and into and out of the press box because he didn't show 'it' in his first games of the year. That is not the type of player you can do that to. If Lindy really wants to start him with Nico and Timo, he has to give Alex time to settle in, learn how to play with those two, and understand that there is probably going to be a learning curve and it won't be perfect right off the bat. You shuffle him up and down the lineup, I am pretty confident that we will see the exact same result with Holtz as last year. No confidence, no chemistry with his linemates, and probably right back to the press box. Lindy needs to be content with letting Alex make his mistakes and grow from them.
I've basically said the same things. It's hard to really have a grasp on what he is because of how he's been used. He was always going to fail with that usage. Maybe he's just not that good and is going to fail regardless but at least give your high pick who has been a great AHLer the chance to succeed in the NHL. Give him some linemates he can work with and give him consistent reps with them to work through the struggles that will present themselves.
