VS. DALLAS STARS

Ring of Honor presented by Citizens

The Devils will induct their second honoree into the Ring of Honor prior to the game when they take on the Stars during this Saturday night matchup. All fans in attendance will receive a limited-edition Ring of Honor pin courtesy of Citizens!

oh? Lou? Brylin?

Not to be morbid but I'd much rather see him get that honor while he's alive. Doc or Chico are the only other two that I could possibly see at this point.

Looking at the Islanders schedule and they don't play that day and they are home the day after so Lou definitely makes sense as the #1 guess. I wonder where if they do another giant thing like for McMullen.

I hate back to back home games but at least this is cool, there's also a good amount of bobblehead giveaways too which is great cause people love em...

"February 24-25, 2024 – Next Generation Weekend presented by RWJBarnabas Health – During Hockey Weekend Across America, the Devils will celebrate the next generation of our fans and youth hockey in New Jersey. The team will recognize the Dr. John J. McMullen Service Award winner and Little Devils members will be taking over different game day roles. The first 9,000 fans in attendance each day will receive a Dawson Mercer bobblehead on Saturday and a Jesper Bratt bobblehead on Sunday courtesy of RWJBarnabas Health. Be sure to come to both games that weekend to collect and connect this limited edition bobblehead set!"

I have a question for you, guys. Why Prudential was build with so limited amount of seats? Extra 2000 seats could benefit the profit part. Or does it make no sense because of the insufficient audience?

We can't fill it when we suck so it doesn't make sense to have had more seats. The Meadowlands always had a hard time of getting a legit sellout unless it was a huge game and that's when we were dominating a lot of years.

Here's the rest of the list for anyone interested, I wonder what the video game socks are gonna actually be, an nhl game? Or just some random games with different characters? Lol

Multiple reasons.

1) Devils historically haven't drawn as well, so you want to balance the available number of seats to demand in order to maximize revenue. Too many available seats hurts overall prices, unless you start covering seats up, Oakland A's style, which is never a good look for the team.

2) The next 2000 seats you add are almost always going to be less valuable than previous ones when dealing with an arena around a defined rink (or field) size. They're almost by definition worse, higher up, or with worse sight lines. Even separate from the impacts of 1), you just can't sell those seats for as much so there's less impetus to add them if it's going to negatively impact the game experience of the 16.7k patrons already there.

3) Related to 2) but from the opposite end as revenue, it generally becomes more expensive on a per seat basis to add seats to a design (without negatively impacting the previously existing seats). Sections have to be bigger, roof higher, you need more infrastructure for bathrooms and fire exits, etc. It's a complicated balancing act.

There's been a trend in North American pro sports generally over the past couple decades of building smaller stadiums and arenas with a more premium experience. In a world where you have much more ticket pricing flexibility (unlike, say, the Bundesliga), adding more seats is often not how you maximize revenue.

Seems odd that Bratt is were he is...just from a team perspective, I'd have him well above Meier and Hamilton... arguably above Nico as well..but it's reasonable to give the nod to the center position...but their production is so similar both career and last season. Bratt's value is in the possession. His relCF% blows away everyone else on the team
I think the Athletic just wanted to put him at #63 because....shits and giggles.

Didn’t We actually removed 1,000 seats for the hockey capacity ?
Yes. Used to officially seat ~1.1k more for hockey.

However, to my knowledge they didn’t rip up 1.1k seats, mostly reclassified how some seats are treated in the suites, goal bars, SRO, etc and maybe removed some fraction of that number.

That’s just from memory though

Is it just me, but has the theme nights and giveways gotten progressively worse it each year?

Team poster on opening night? Lame.

Bobbleheads seem to me the only decent giveaway.

The mini helmet could be cool, the ring of honor pin is nice. The 03 replica rings last year were really incredible and one of the best giveaways ever.

What else do you have in mind that you would like to see? Personally I don't need more Devils stuff after all these years so at least bobbleheads don't take up a ton of room and they are easy to display.

Yeah why the secrecy…I’d joke that’s a sure sign it’s Lou but I doubt it for the reasons already stated in this thread

We play at the Islanders on October 20th so maybe they have him on the broadcast and announce it then? Could also do it for either of the pre-season games too on October 2nd or 6th.

We went from 19,040 at the meadowlands to 16,514 in Newark...I believe it was done to add additional luxury boxes, the fire and ice bars, a restaurant and table top seating. At least that was what was talked about 17/18 years ago.

We can't fill it when we suck so it doesn't make sense to have had more seats. The Meadowlands always had a hard time of getting a legit sellout unless it was a huge game and that's when we were dominating a lot of years.

nico is a 2C

eichel is 2B

Nico was historically underrated. I believe it will be the norm for him if he will not win 3+ selky.
