I actually think those numbers are probably gonna be accurate but they're just haggling over small details like NTC's/salary per year. It would make sense they got the numbers done with Timo done first, pivot to Haula and then finish the Timo contract.
I think he was holding off to see if Haula re-signed before making his decision :)

A lot of podcasts all saying that we are in on Helle . Legit guys all talking about it and speculating we are in on him . It will be interesting to see what shakes out . I think we look into it for sure but I can’t see us ending up with him . Maybe as a rental and see where we stand after the season . I just can’t see us spending 7+ mil on a goalie

I could definitely see us spending 7+ on Hellebuyck. The issue with Hellebuyck is that he'll be 31 and getting massive term. That's why it won't be us signing him.

I wonder if the Devils are kicking the tires on Helle in case they can revisit as a trade deadline acquisition.

If he’s traded before then, no harm done, but if the rental market is weak then maybe they can acquire him for less and if he walks after, then it’s ok.

I’m not big on acquiring defenseman or goalies at trade deadline but throwing it out there as an option.

Ive been trying to put myself into the mind of Fitz cost on this Buyck situation. Id be asking myself: “if we get Buck, do we immediately become Cup…favorites? for how many years? is that worth the high likelihood/cost of buying him out down the line?” Im not even saying I have the answers, just that I assume that as GM he is running these hypothetical buyout models and may determine that being serious contenders for a few years is worth the buyout.

That’d be an enormous buyout and would really ruin the back end of Jack/Bratt/Timo deals and Jack/Luke/Nemec/Mercer prime years. It just doesn’t make sense for a team this young. If this was like 4 years from now with Jack/Bratt/Nico/Timo all in their late 20s then you could justify betting on Hellebuyck for 5ish years and saying f*** it to the backend of the deal since you’d be near the end of your contending window anyway when Hellebuyck starts to fall off. I don’t see the sense in a team with like a 10 year runway in front of themselves limiting that to maybe like 5 and then really harming yourself down the line. Hey if you win then great but if you don’t then you’re kind of f***ed

Personally I think it’s just media doing the media thing and running with it. The fact that Helle has shared interest in signing an extension only adds fuel to the fire after Fitz kicked the tires. It’s Fitz’s job to try and upgrade the roster at all times.

These are the same people who were saying two weeks ago that Fitz was going to have a hard time signing both Bratt and Meier. These people get paid to just pull shit out of their asses.

My buddy just met Nico on his flight back to Nashville lmao. He's heading there for the awards.
By all accounts Hischier seems like a good kid and patient with fans. I hope they got a picture and your buddy got to spend a minute to chat with him and wish him well.
