This is what being a fan of a team that has 18 total goals from defensemen does to you. It breaks a person.
Yes, we had 18 goals and 88 points from our entire defense in 2010-11.
That’s 4 less goals and 14 more points then Hamilton alone had last season.
1 player (82 GP) vs 13 players (497 GP)
In 2010-11 Andy Greene led the defense with 23 points while Tallinder has the most goals (5).
In 2011-12 season, the defense somehow managed to score even fewer goals (16 goals) but more points (107 points).
In 2011-12 Adam Larsson led the defense with EIGHTEEN f***ING POINTS while Fayne has the most goals (FOUR f***ING GOALS).
It says a lot that a very old Zidlicky was the only defenseman with a significant offense pulse after Lou signed him in 2012 off-season.
Not so much in the 48 game 2012-13 season, when the defense had a total of 12 goals and 57 points.
But in 2013-14 a 36 year old Zilicky got his groove on, Greene had a career year, and Eric Gelinas scoring 7 Gelly Bombs was some sort of revelation for the fanbase (guilty as charged).
Our super-charged juggernaut defense scored 35 goals and had 144 points.
Defensemen leaders: Zidlicky (12 G) & Zidlicky (42 pts)
And it got less super charged in 2014-15 with 26 goals and 132 points.
Defensemen leaders: Gelinas (6 G) & Larson (24 pts)
And it got even worse in 2015-16 with 20 goals and 103 points.
Defensemen leaders: Schlemko (6 G) & Severson (20 pts)
With slightly more productive leaders the defense still isn’t productive in 2016-17 with 30 goals and 109 points.
Defensemen leaders: Moore (12 G) & Severson (31 pts)
Me, to our offense from a blue line for almost a decade:
