Who are the first four?

If this is the roster we start the season with, I’m plenty happy.

I wouldnt say no to another depth addition, or inquiring about an elite goalie, but neither are necessary.
I don't want anything to do with the cost of acquiring Hellebuyck. Depth? Fine. Keeping the cap space until someone gets disgruntled and wants to be traded or save until the deadline? Fine, even better. Just don't want to spend the money on a goalie... yet.

I think each teams big 4 are a toss up for right now (Devils better in the future due to age), but Mercer and Toffoli are better than Bertuzzi and Domi.

And I wonder if Nylander will even be there by game 1. Leafs are over the cap and apparently Nylander wants stupid money that Toronto doesn't have or want to give out

I love our team but it's really hard for me not to take the Marner Matthews duo. Though Matthews didn't seem to be quite the same player last year as years past.

Flip Bratt and Palat and it's good imo

I get why you would want that. I think I like the idea of spreading out the playmakers more. Give Holtz a playmaker and play driver to get him chances. Plus Palat Nico and Mercer playing again a teams top line if going to drive them nuts and still be able to score.

I would take the Leafs but I think it’s like 51/49. I can’t fault anyone for taking either.

Except for the one guy on Twitter who took the Leafs because Knies is better than Bratt. :lol:

Alot of players are cashing out but not taking a 8 year deals with their team. Matthews & Makar took 5 , Marner 6. We should be happy Jack signed for 8 , Nico for 7 , Bratt + Meier for 8 as well. Took a little for Nico to be worth his cap hit when it came to point totals but it's safe to say all 4 of those players should be worth the money in the regular season and hopefully beyond.

I know Makar , Marner and Matthews were all coming off their ELC deals before signing those extensions unlike Bratt and Meier. Those guys wanted to hit UFA faster to get another huge pay day and pick their destination. I feel like Matthews in particular really wants to play for the Coyotes if they weren't bad and have the possibility of relocation hanging over their head. With the way things worked out with Bratt I'm really glad he was a man of his word and stayed with us. I was questioning if he really wanted to stay here kong term and was thinking he was only going to sign a 1 year deal or a 3 to 4 year deal tops.

anyone who takes the leafs top-6 over the devils didn’t watch John Tavares last year. He got a ton of points because of world class linemates, but he’s a step behind the rest of that group and he will only get slower and older.

Jack = Matthews
Bratt > Bertuzzi
Meier = Marner
Toffoli < Nylander
Mercer >> Domi
Hischier >>>>>>>> Tavares

This is pretty biased IMO. Matthews is the second best player in the league. Jack is not on his level yet and not sure if he will be.

Marner is also better than Meier, not sure how calling them equal is fair? And Hishier is better than Taveres but not to the extent your trying to depict.
