Wouldn't trade Mercer ...Coleman doesn't move the needle
Coleman does move the needle...he is a better PKer than anyone on this team, he has more PK points than our entire team combined and he has as many goals as Jesper Bratt who leads our team.

What would it cost to get him? I don't know. But Blake certainly would make our team better in multiple areas

They're not trading Siegs after he just took a discount to help the team.
probably not, but in a scenario where they decide they wanted Hanifin, it makes more sense to have Bahl on the 3rd pair than Seigs.

This is baseless speculation on a baseless rumor anyway. Adding Hanifin is probably investing too much in D long term at the sake of the forwards, but that would be one of the most loaded D groups in the league.

Sounds like a Larry Brooks article.

I don't see them doing it

1. Just doesn't seem like a Fitz thing to do
2. If they did that, no one will take a discount for this team ever again (nor should anyone tbh but that's another discussion).

Ya, I haven't seen him play much since he left, but his numbers are good, and if he is anything like the Coleman that was in NJ back in the day he is definitely a needle mover.

A fantastic PK fwd, and a very good defensive fwd overall. With excellent speed and motor.

I look under all cushions. Born that way.
Are you looking under the cushions for loose change?

It was bittersweet trading him...

It was necessary, the return was excellent but man I liked him...

Does anybody have that give of him mocking Kessel? Awesome.

Yes, we’d have to ship Siegenthaler if we traded for Hanifin and wanted to resign him. We can’t pay someone 3.4m to play on the 3rd pair while carrying all those big defensive contracts.

I still don’t think can we afford Hanifin longterm even if we moved Siegenthaler, not with Dougie plus the looming RFA deals.

Coleman and Lazar on the same line would be a thing of beauty.

For Mercer no needle not moving...

For Mercer no needle not moving...
32 3 more years at 4.9 million....Mercer in 2 to 3 years will be far better player

They both throw like they're getting ready for the Victoria Secret Bowl.
Lazar wasn't terrible. Maybe a bit short armed but given they are throwing in a small area standing next to each other and he probably hasn't thrown a football in a long time he looked smooth and at least was able to put the ball in a consist pattern with some spin. Luke was awful. Like how is he a pro athlete awful.

I could see the Kings being a team battling with us in the goalie market. Talbot/Rittich/Copley(he's injured for the rest of the year I think) was never a recipe for success and looks like great goalie depth for your AHL team, but not the NHL team.

However, no one can fault Blake for not re-signing Korpisalo. That was merely a band aid and capitalization on his career year/up season he was having.

Mercer won't be a lifer in NJ. Your cornerstone lifers are Jack, Luke, Hischier, Bratt, and Nemec. Meier and Hamilton are lifers through acquisition. Everyone else is on the periphery and movable.
To me he's like Brylin. As long as you don't move him, he'll stay loyal. He's not the best player on the team or even close to it, but he understands his role and will do his absolute best to fill that roll.
Now if he says he wants 5+ million to sign, I'd be okay with moving him but not for a rental or older goalie. He doesn't strike me as that kind of guy, I could be wrong though.

His name could be in talks purely because extension talks were annoying. Wouldn’t surprise me if that factored into his bad play earlier.

If you can get him for 6-ish, it will be a value deal inside of three years but i think people are projecting him as a team player when there’s no reason to think that at all.
