The cupboard is relatively barren as far as forwards outside of Gritsyuk so I am in no rush to move Mercer or Holtz for Markstrom. We really need to just let it ride with Daws and Schmid while hoping Vitek can at least be serviceable. I don't think that's punting the season as much as it's playing the long game. We don't move premium assets, yet.

This problem isn't going away and it could end up being more expensive in the offseason when more times reenter bidding.

We also are not starved for NHL RW depth right now as they are going to resign Toffi, and RW is where Timo is most comfortable.

no one should be mad at fitz if he trades for markstrom and it doesn't work out for whatever reason. he is at least attempting to fix the problem. he should get blame if he doesn't trade for markstrom and the bolded happens

he went the cheap fix route bringing vitek here. he then figured to give the duo another shot this summer both of which are fine but its clearly a problem so if he doesn't fix it and nico isn't ready and he doesn't trade for a goalie now? man thats bad gm
Bad gm making bad trades for saving his vss. Good gms thinks long term.

Dregs said (on Insider Trading) although the focus is on top level goaltending we are also asking around for both forwards and Dmen lol

We better have a huge end to February and solidify our spot before we trade the farm

If we add more expensive pieces and sell farm for that, we may run into cap problems very quickly and won't be able to build contending core around Hughes/Hischier/Nemec/L. Hughes. We should be way more patient IMO and try to find smart solutions, not the flashiest ones possible (e. g. Hamilton, Meier).

Fitz was smart and reasonable. Sharangovich is playing well, but he is making the same what he does here in his good days, that was not a good situation for both sides, trade was reasonable and turned well for both sides.
Meier trade was reasonable, we had best depth of the D and on the right side. Shaq would be blocked by Luke, Simon, Dougie. He would be great 3rd pair defenseman, but its better for him to play more meaningful role earlier. Zetterlund would be blocked by Bratt, Toffoli, Mercer. + Holtz. Meier was silent in his first three games, after he had 9 points in nine games. After that he was injured twice. First season of Dougie was not great. I don't trust in bad player Meier with two injuries and playing on the "wrong" side.

I believe he will jot overpay for a goalie. 1st plus Holtz is overpaying for Markstrom. Holtz + Mercer and/or Casey is overpaying for Saros. This team only starting, we don't know how far they can ho, its too early to waste good assets for short term solution. We have example of maple leafs. They had great core but did nothing because they had no depth and lost many picks for short term solutions. They traded Sandin right before he paned out.
I'm not against the trades, I'm not against moving some good assets, but trades should be reasonable.

So that guy is wearing a McLeod jersey on purpose to trigger people?

He’s a known guy?
He's a pretty known guy. I keep running into him at the arena in Sunrise. He's also the guy who was wearing the bucket hat that Bratt put on after it was thrown to the ice in that Tampa game where he had a hat trick last year.

I hear more about him from this forum, and had heard about him before I even seen him at games.

Someone on here was even saying Keith Kinkaid had a restraining order on him for stalking. I think he has an arrest here in Pinellas County, Florida for assaulting his then-girlfriend.

He's also known to sell bootleg merchandise and someone posted the screen shots a few weeks ago of him hitting on an underage girl on instagram. Guy is probably about 35 or so. I think I heard him tell the other dude he was talking to that he was 34.

I know more about him from this forum than anything in real life. Although I have sat in his section the last two games we played @ the Panthers.

He was chanting ''Let's Go Brandon!'' at the game in March of last year during the middle of play. Apparently his name is Brandon.

When someone posted the clip from twitter of the guy wearing the McLeod jersey in Carolina, the first game after he left the team, I knew exactly who it was after I watched the video. He's easy to spot. Lots of tattoos and very short.

I've always been about letting people vote for and support whoever they want, even if I don't support the particular person, but this dude seems like he chants and wears stuff just to get a reaction.

And he talks to everybody. Probably anyone that will listen to him. I'm surprised he didn't talk to me. Probably because I give off a vibe that I'm not friendly. It's really just that I'm socially awkward, although I don't have any interest in conversing with this guy, especially all the shit I now know about him.

Four games this week, then one day off and a 6 hour flight for 3 more west coast games lol

these guys are gonna be dog tired down the stretch
Nhl shouldn’t have inter conference games this late into the season. They shouldn’t have them to begin with but that will never happen

Bad gm making bad trades for saving his vss. Good gms thinks long term.
Sitting on your hands and not addressing a massive need is being a bad gm. Trying to fix the problem doesn’t mean you are a bad gm. Heck he is the one that got us into this problem anyway

Yeah, but not every move is the good move even if gm has reasons. Better to fire the gm who is wanting to trade any asset for any short term solution. This is what you are offering.
the fact that Fitz didn’t sign backup this summer is separate and it is a Fitzs problem and guilt.

How is trading a goalie for 2.5 years short term? Lol he’s not a rental and if you believe daws is legit you need a veteran placeholder that isn’t saros.

Huyol
he is 34 yo. And not the healthiest. Trading two first round assets for him is overpaying. Markstrom may be has 1 play off may be two, may be three, we don’t know. May be zero, if this team will miss the play off even with him.
Smart gm will not make what Lou made in Islanders and in Toronto or Dubas in Toronto.

Its not about Markstrom for two first round level assets only.

A potentially terrible Fitz trifecta that would really have me question his ability to guide this team to a Cup.

1)Trading Holtz.
2)Keeping and then resigning Toffoli
3)Firing Ruff this offseason. This one being part of the terrible trifecta only if he trades Holtz immediately before firing him.

I almost feel like letting Holtz rot forever is worse than trading him at this point. I'd like to see him under another coach before I give up on him but that's not gonna happen with Mr. Do Nothing Fitz

He just turned 22. His game has grown. He should get more time, but he's not in rot territory right now.

And last year was more on Fitz then Ruff.

Trading Holtz would be more on Fitz too.
