Lol

I could be be wrong but I believe that means his teammates are much stronger than average, and that diminishes his individual score a bit.

Nah the teammates/competition categories are the higher the better the teammate/competition rating the better the players. So Luke’s facing weak competition and has had even weaker teammates. I don’t know how it’s weighted for the overall WAR

Nope.

From the explainer.

  • Teammates: The percentile ranking of Quality of Teammates a player plays with on average, based on time-on-ice. A higher ranking means he frequently plays with his team’s top TOI players, while a lower one means he’s probably in a depth or fourth line role. Similarly is already accounted for by WAR.

This is from HockeyViz showing ice time visually.

Thanks, seems like lower numbers should be blue as they are associated with higher individual WAR scoring

I’d like to enjoy McLeod as one of the better fourth liners in the league? If that’s even true.

I think it is. 4th liners aren't good, and the 'good ones' are usually younger players who for whatever reason haven't moved up, or veterans at the end of their career.

Jack is on the plane to Chicago. Not sure what the protocol would be if a player with a notable injury would instead fly home or go with the team to the next game. So speculate all you want lmao
How do you know he’s on the plane?

Not saying I think he’s not, I figured he would be.

times like this when we didnt have Jack and Nico (or at least the thought of it) was always daunting

now it isnt as bad with Bratt stepping up, Meier and Tofolli, and Mercer will come around.. heck, this could lead be his breakout this year

Palat can definitely fill a top/6 role too!

random thought but the team if Nico and Jack just disappeared today and their caphits too... wouldnt be ss bad as you think! would need to try and nab a big free agent center lmao but other than that...!

Been saying for years the goalline needs to move further from the boards. Too much speed in the game now. Guys come flying towards the net,
It’s a serious injury waiting to happen

Obviously wish Nico and Jack speedy recoveries, but it’s wild that we still have Bratt/TT/Timo and then nice depth with Mikey/Haula/Holtz all while getting nothing from Mercer.

Mercers gotta get going. I almost wonder if he should head to Utica to wake him up.

Iirc that's how Keller broke his femur a few years back.

This is correct. Even without Nico and Jack, the Devils have:

- three 30 goal scorers and one 25 goal scorer
- a former 7OA rookie wing
- the #2 scoring d man in the league last year
- a former 4OA rookie dman who’s looking like a star

There’s enough firepower. Without Nico and Jack, though, they have to figure out their breakouts, zone entries, and d coverage.

Wings need to be way more active / responsible.

Exactly, I didn’t even include Luke/Dougie

I get going into the boards is hard for everyone but twice in two years. Jack and Nico gotta bulk up or something if this is going to be a recurring theme
