Really hope this isn't a sign of really bad news for Nico, but he had a public signing coming up on Nov 19 at Sports Minded Unlimited in Warren and the team cancelled it.

November 19th is pretty far away.... I sure hope that isn't the reason (head injury).

He had a concussion that year from getting hit by PK Subban shot.... right?

Please let it not be. Nico doesn't need a serious career altering injury ....

If that's the case, I want what i said last time : Connor Clifton getting his ass kicked every time we face him; preferably by Kevin Bahl.

If he has a concussion, you're not going to cancel an event like three weeks in advance over it, concussions don't have finite timetables. And someone should be fired if he does have a concussion. Maybe it's just a hand/shoulder injury he's gotta manage for a while.

There's NO way it would take THAT long for Nico replacement parts to arrive.

The team sent down the player brought up for Nico right away. I’m pretty sure that’s a good sign.

Well, we also don't play until Thursday. Suppose there's always a chance they sent him back to play with Utica, as well. They have a game tomorrow.

I've learned to be skeptical of everything until we hear he's on the ice.

Also, if Nico couldn’t attend an event on November 19 due to concussion they would have put Nico on LTIR and kept Dowling up.

Nico isn't eligible for LTIR because the Devils are not over the salary cap. Dowling could be recalled on Wednesday or Thursday; his demotion may be on paper.

There is no need to IR or LTIR Nico now, the timeline for concussions varies in each particular case and they can always retroactively add him if he does need it later.

LTIR in particular requires the player to miss 10 games AND at least 24 days. You don't do that unless you're absolutely sure you need to.

It’s very likely a cap move. Cap calculated on a daily basis, so each day he’s up reduces the Devils available cap at trade deadline. Therefore, best to keep him on the AHL roster unless he has to play in NJ.

I’ve never seen that a team has to be over the cap to put a player on LTIR. How would that even work since teams can not exceed the salary cap except through having placed a player on LTIR? So players could never be put on LTIR.

I assume you mean there would be no reason since the Devils wouldn’t see a benefit. Maybe. So substitute IR for LTIR.

If Nico is going to be hurt for weeks it sure would be a dick move by the Devils to paper Dowling down for 2 days to save $1,500 bucks.

The question was Nico cancelled an autograph event 3 weeks from now so someone was worried he must have an injury causing that cancellation. They speculated concussion.

Honestly the way to take care of these issues is NOT to go after Clifton, but the valuable players that team wouldn't want to lose. Just spend a whole game with cheap shots to Tage Thompson, That will send a message to teams, cheap shot our star players, we are going to take your star players out.
