The Athletic Devils player Market Values:
Is based on what they’ve done the past 3 seasons, so far this season, and the projection for the remainder of this season. Is for this season only and doesn’t take long-term into account.

Hughes - 15M
Hamilton - 14.9
Bratt - 14.2
Hischier - 13.6
Siegenthaler - 11.1
Tatar - 8.0
Palat - 7.1
Zetterlund - 7.0
Haula - 6.2
Mercer - 6.1
Severson - 5.9
Graves - 5.1
Bastian - 4.6
Vanacek - 3.9
Wood - 3.4
Marino - 3.3
Sharangovich - 3.0
Smith - 2.6
McLeod - 2.0
Blackwood - 0.1

Would’ve love to see Schmid and I’m guessing he’d have a nice value.

Haula didn’t lose 90% of his shooting percentage overnight. He’s generating shots per 60 towards the high side of his career and we can see they’re not all cheap shots.

The goals will start coming at about his normal rate.
I'm not sure they'll start coming at about his normal rate. Still a little early to say, but he's right at that age where the shooting percentage sometimes starts to drop off.

I think they'll start coming at a rate much greater than they have to this point, but not sure about his normal rate. It's possible this is just a down 30-ish games in shooting percentage, but he's likely losing it a little bit.

Just to be sure, is someone working on a GDT right now? If not, I’m willing to start a quick one! Just don’t want to step on anyones toes!
I've never done a GDT before ever, but I have a good idea for one.

It wouldn't be a long and dedicated one, but it would feature two prominent characters. One turncoat and one heavily questionable double agent. But I'm afraid it will bring bad vibes, especially against the Rangers.

He’s playing more minutes and generating more shots per minute than prior years.

Even a decrease in shooting percentage would likely be balanced out by those 2 factors.

Some other players of possible interest:
Zacha - 6.8
Zegras - 6.8 (most overhyped young player in the league, but is still very good)
Caulfield - 7.2
Seider - 2.6 (he has been bad this season)
Kakko - 4.3 (plays against men)
Cozens - 7.1
Suzuki - 7.9M
Petterson - 12.7
Stutzle - 10M

Sounds interesting, keep that idea for sure! If you don’t want to use your idea for a GDT today, I’ll gladly do one later!

lmao Blackwood

Marino that low will bother a lot of people, but IMO he's had more rough games than people care to admit. Everyone remembers the cool flashy defensive plays, and I'm not saying he's bad or anything, but overall I think the people acting like he's Ken Daneyko out there are a little off base.

I like Haula for what he's shown us about Jack. Jack's ideal winger is someone like Philip Danault who can take the faceoff and stay with play, but those guys are hard to come by. Haula hasn't scored much but personally I like the guy, hard to argue with the teams results so far. Until we find someone who can kill it at faceoffs and help Jack drive play from the wing, I think Haula is totally fine.

Plus the obligatory puck luck, this guy will score more etc etc

lmao Blackwood
What have I been saying about how much money he should be paid? I’ve been saying he’s a $1 million dollar goalie and can be replaced by basically any goalie making a million bucks a year. And that if it came down to Blackwood next year at $3-$4 million vs another bad goalie making just $1 million, give me the cheaper one, as he can’t be any worse and it’s a $2-$3 million savings.

Glad they agree with me.

The thing is past seasons also carry a lot of weight but the model still doesn’t rate him nearly as high as Devils fans. I’m personally in between but I agree that people remember the flashy plays.

I think the same reason a lot of fans hate Severson is the reason they love Marino. The really noticeable plays. Severson will play really solid all game, do the little things and make smart simple plays. And then have the occasional really noticeable boneheaded play.
Marino is solid but not anything that great and gets caught in his own end a bit more than people realize but then will spectacularly break up some 2-on-1 and people thing he’s the greatest player in the world.

I watched the Bruins-Vegas game last night (and with Krejci out, Zacha lined up at center), and I gotta say he did look pretty good. A lot more battle and jam than I'd seen before. Bruins fans seem happy with him too.

Zacha has 3 goals in 27 games so it's not like he's doing any better than Haula in the goal scoring department.

He has 12 ES points (playing with Pastrnak & Krejci) and Haula has 9 ES points (playing with Hughes & Mercer). And Haula can at least take a faceoff and win a board battle.

there’s no universe where zacha deserves nearly $7M a year. unless there’s a universe where the salary cap for each team was $800 billion dollars.

Will they though?

Bruins fans can be happy with him.

The “market value” of these cards in no way predicts what a player will get paid.

It just says “NHL action”. Doesn’t necessarily mean for the Devils.
It can be assumed. It didn’t say in goal either.
