What are people's thoughts on acquring Max Domi as a rental. I think he could be an upgrade on Huala for Hughes line - to take faceoffs but play wing.

And it pushes Huala down the lineup to replace Boqvist.

It's definitely a strange combination, that line. I'm meh on Boqvist. He's got some skill and versatility...but he doesn't do anything that stands out above others, so it's easy to think he's not contributing.

Rango's versatility is a double edged sword. It makes it easier for Ruff to slot him down in the lineup...which doesn't help his numbers.

And Holtz...just play him already. He's young and going to make mistakes. With his lack of speed and defensive polish... he's probably going to make a lot of mistakes. I say play him more and get it out of his system quicker.

It's feels almost alien, this problem we have: depth! No matter how the lineup is constructed... someone's going to suffer. There just isn't enough ice time to go around for the wealth of assets we now have.

How’s his skating? All I know about him is that he has an edge and a decent shot.

If it means Tie Domi will be hanging around the Prudential Center getting undeserved air time...no thank you!

But seriously...I don't feel Max is bringing us anything we don't already have. And his offensive numbers are all over the map. You never know what he's going to give you. I'd rather keep snake bitten Erik with Jack...that line's underlying numbers are pretty good despite Haula's magic hands.

I think when Palat is back that who is taking Haulas spot. He's basically a deadline acquisition due at this point.

I will say throwing in a brief summary of the Capitals rape case was awkward as hell. Maybe the feeling was it’s topical but Toews got a chipper entry with no Kyle Beach reference. But that was written by their fawning Hawks beat writer with help from Dom for the stat info. The case is too disturbing just to jam in their like that, particularly since the rest of the article revolves around the hits.
The thing that you didn't mention from that article was that Stevens was cleared before that case even went to a jury.

The person who wrote the article obviously had an axe to grind with him and just tossed that in there just to paint him more in a bad light.

That Sharangovich-Boqvist-Holtz line is such a hideously mismatched hodgepodge of players with completely incompatible skill sets.

Boqvist has been fine, but I will always see him as a disappointment. He could have been a pretty good top-6 winger, but I feel like his development was botch as soon as Hynes put him on the team in 2019-20 even though there was no roster spot for him. It's almost like they did it purely because they wanted to block him from going back to Sweden.

Yea, I was loving so much not having a "leftover" line.

I don't think that line is mismatched. Ideally you'd have someone who's better along the boards on the line but I think it can work, there's two shooters and one playmaker, two guys with good speed, Sharangovich is big.

They definitely wanted to keep Boqvist here but he played quite a lot, and had the season finished he would've been huge for Binghamton's playoff run. There was no reason to keep him in Sweden playing on a meh team without top SEL talent.

He had an xGF% of 38.66%, only John Hayden was worse.

I don't particularly care where he should have been playing, but the NHL was clearly the wrong answer.

The thing that I don't get is that to me, those hits never defined his legacy, at least not as a Devil. Yes, he made them, a lot of them aren't legal today, but he was apart from those, an incredible defenseman, and those hits were comparatively rare. He wasn't making them in the regular season. My memory is of him catching Lindros, Adams, Domi, maybe Kaberle, Willis, Francis, Kariya from 97 on, that's got to be 100 games, it's just not something he managed to do a lot, nor was he trying every time like e.g. Vishnevski.

So yes, you can't talk about Scott Stevens without talking about the big hits, and you can't talk about the big hits without noting that they are thankfully gone from the game. But you can talk about so much more.
Maybe they should have banned the whole 70’s Flyer teams. Didn’t Miles Wood get rocked last night. Such bullshit to just blame Stevens like he concussed the whole league.

Sharangovich is on pace for ~25 goals and ~43 points and is a key PKer. I mean, I am not sure how he "does very little for this team"
I believe that response said Boqvist and Holtz do very little and essentially Yegor is being brought down by that line, which I agree, mostly because of Holtz. He needs more time in the minors and ultimately may not be a good fit for this system.

Hopefully Wood isn't out for too long, really sucks about Bastian though. That's been our best line for a bunch of games, we really need them back together.

Holtz does not stand out 5v5 much. He also isn't playing alot so he is going to develop slower playing with lesser linemates. I'm pretty sure Hughes or Bratt are the only players to really get his game going if he were to play innthe top 6.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pretty concerned about what happens and how they fare as the schedule starts to hit a pretty tough stretch coming up.
