Shara feels kind of wasted to me. He's a scoring winger who's not put in a position to score on the top 2 lines, and has consistency issues. I love the guy, and I think he's good, perhaps this is a situation of "good" being the enemy of "great".

As for a deep playoff run, I can see it playing out two ways. We've seen first year playoff teams rip through the season and get eliminated in the first round due to inexperience. I think of the last year of the Quebec Nordiques as an example, but I'm sure there's many more examples, perhaps Florida being the most recent.

The other possibility I can envision is another run like we had in 87 - 88, where we almost made the finals, mainly because we didn't get intimidated because we didn't know better.
Not sure how you see it that way. Playing with Boqvist and Holtz as well as being one of the top penalty killers is hardly a waste. That gives the team three scoring lines - while most teams have two at the most.

That speaks more to the team's depth than it does to not utilizing Yegor correctly.

So I was just thinking about this last offeason and was curious. If we signed Johnny Hockey, would we have even traded for Marino? I'm not sure we would have for cap reasons

Sharangovich isn't a scoring winger, he's a center that got moved over because Boqvist is worse as a winger.

Yes, I believe we would have. We obviously would not have signed Palat, and we probably would have been more willing to give up assets to get rid of Johnsson. Might've traded Tatar too, so funny how these things work out.

What? I don't have the stats on this but Shara has played wing on a bunch of lines and only been used occasionally as a center by my memory.

Replacing Tatar should we walk away is an underrated concern. Holtz could alleviate a lot of those worries but even in a good scenario, where he’s scoring at the same clip, his pace isn’t the same.

You know all the early to mid '80s born, and late '70s born, eyes lighting up when they see TNMT stuff.... I won't lie, that shit was awesome. I mean, who of that generation didn't watch that cartoon series after school coming back home..... or sat morning or whenever the f it was...!

Now that I saw this clip, I am reminded to now share with my kids... (they were going through a ninja phase just recently)....

(to keep it on track, i definitely want to see a GDT now with this. lol)
Spot on with the mid 80s part. My daughter watched them with me, just the first two not that weird 3rd one. She's 9 and liked it enough to actually watch it.
Why would anyone watch an old movie like Ternage Mutanat Njnjs Turtles? That stuff is for grandparents. Young people like me watch hip and now movies made for thr youth of today.
It's still good. Nostalgic, but still a good flick.

I think someone in the Pitt front office mentioned Fitz had been after Marino for awhile so I think Fitz would have made the trade anyway.

Sharangovich has been awful as a center whenever he's been put there. He's just not a center in the NHL. I'd be shocked if anyone ever made him a center long-term.

The Devils don't have a forward with anything close to the game Tatar has in their system. They have Palat, of course, who we've all forgotten about, but Tatar is exactly the sort of player teams think they can do without until he's gone.

Folks, can we not go and shit-up the mainboard? You're starting to make us look like titf***s.

This is why I mostly stay on our board, where if I say something weird you lot will politely tell me I'm an idiot.

Whereas if I do it on the main board, I make us all look like idiots, because HF doesn't do nuance or accept that different posters in the same fanbase could have differing opinions. Wild concept, I know.

This team is breaking records and leading the league. You don't mess with this chemistry unless you are forced to due to injuries. Don't fix what ain't broken.

Get Palat back and run this baby out.

Moving Blackwood for an extra Dman would be about the only move I'd make that wouldn't impact the chemistry imo but what happens if a goalie gets injured? Not worth it after last year.

Playing with house money - let it ride.

We've got some lunatic fans that won't post in here because they get shouted down on their nonsense but they will go spam the main boards with stuff that makes us all look silly.

I don't even like playing too much with the lines at this point, never mind whole sale changes.

People bitch about Haula on Jack's wing, but it clearly hasn't been an issue considering Jack is scoring over a PPG pace.

Tatar has been excellent for us as well.

I think we can get more out of Yegor, I don't think that current line is getting the most out of him, but once Palat is back, Haula goes back to center, Yegor I think will start scoring more there.

Someone over there mentioned how rare it is to see Devils fans out and about on the main board.

We are one of the busiest team boards on the entire site but we rarely interact with the main board much. It tends to be a few who never post in here.

Maybe the same thing is happening in every fanbase on here, and that's the reason why the main board is a dumpster fire. All the team board rejects are there.

I tend to agree, I don't think there is much for him to do centered by Boqvist getting little ice time.

But I don't really see a reason to shuffle the lines for him when our other lines are working so well.

Palat will force Haula into Boqvists slot and I think Yegor will start to thrive more when that happens.

Holtz just doesn't have a permanent spot in the lineup this season. I think we thought he would knock Tatar out of the lineup, but Tatar had been playing way way too well to sit and Zetterland ran away with the other potential open spot.

I mean he's an elite penalty killer, he can contribute on the Devils even when he's not scoring. And he's the closest thing we'll have to 2015-2020 Kyle Palmieri mold of a streaky sniper. Definitely want to keep him after this year in RFA.

This.

Severson played a two on one the best he's ever played a two on one last night. He just bailed on the shooter and took the pass and left the goalie the shot. Why? VTEC.
Which is also the basic rule of thumb in covering a 2 on 1. I know you know this. The goalie takes the shooter and the D-man prevents the pass.

Elite penalty killer?

I'm not going there. He's dangerous though.

He's been good, but I don't see it as too big of an issue.

Also think he could be signed for pretty cheap if we do decide to keep him.

He plays on a top 5 PK unit regularly and has 2 SHG's in about 26 games, what else is that then? An average penalty killer?
