Doing some online shopping for gifts for my kids. Is this the most cursed Devils jersey of all-time? It’s not even discounted on the site like the remaining Hall and Subban ones.

I second that this might not be the year to go all in, but then again If the team is hovering around top in the league at the deadline, then maybe we should think about adding? Make a “hockey trade” as Fitz likes to stress.
We have a loooong time between now and March 3rd. If we continue this insane pace until then, nobody of significance has a major injury and Holtz starts showing what he’s capable of—we don’t need to do a damn thing.

Graves will certainly get somewhere between 4-5.5M AAV on the open market, probably in a ~5 year deal, and I want nothing to do with that.

He's big, can skate decently well, shoots a lot and gets a fair amount of points. Public models all disagree on the his style, so certainly in-house stats models will vary between potential suitors. SOMEONE will see him as a legit 3/4 middle pairing guy and offer him a deal at that price.

I think he's fairly slotted as a middle pairing guy so long as he has the right partner. If you want to call that a number four defender so be it. He plays tough minutes and at times plays what would be first pair defensive minutes at even strength. He can handle that without cratering. If NJ didn't have Hughes and Bahl and Mukhamadullin to ease in over the next few years he'd be an easy candidate for an extension. NJ will miss him in the short term assuming he signs elsewhere after the season.

Dude has the best hair on the team. That's gotta be worth something. As a balding guy, I stare at his locks all game with nothing but burning hot rage.

I don’t think so either but I can see bratt’s camp asking for a number in that range and if it comes to that the devils would have an interesting decision to make
i think we will see where things stand once January 1st arrives.

The clock starts ticking then and we'll find out if Bratt's agent and Fitz are close or still far apart (as far as Money goes, since Term is not the issue).

Because other than injury updates (which are usually not forthcoming), it's the only major question hanging over the team right now.

Call it the curse of following a team firing on all cylinders: there's nothing interesting to talk about.
That and the goalie thing which has siphoned off its own thread

Marner scores 94 points when Average G/GP were 3.01 and not 3.17. And Bratt’s not on pace for ~94 points now. Marner’s contract was also kind of brutal, as good as he is.

Panarin and Huberdeau were Hart finalists with way more production.

I don’t see it when people keep pointing to wingers with histories of way more production to argue that Bratt should get the same.

I probably argued more than I want to because we’re going to hit an impasse. I don’t see it and others do.
Btw, thanks for the precision on the contracts, couldn’t really look up the info but thought for sure Panarin was the biggest paid at under 10 in the moment, I got confused with the Gaudreau contract. I also forgot about Huberdeau and Marner lol, my bad! Big DUH moment!

I get why the negotiations are tough but they can’t afford to lose him. They don’t have any young offensive stars. 11m isn’t that crazy when McAvoy makes 9.5m.

The chance to be a Bruin for life will be a pull for Pasta too, I just don’t see him leaving. You never know but it’s such a long shot that it just sounds goofy to see Pasta as our off-season target. This isn’t Calgary.
Like you said - Look at the team beyond this year. They have ZERO pipeline and only 5 forwards, 3 of them over 30, signed past this year.

I mean, I'm sure that they can "Rangers" themselves into convincing people of history and Original Sixy BS but I don't see much of a future there beyond this year and he might be thinking the same thing.

He could easily take the money an waltz over to somewhere like LA if they threw a bunch of money at him.

On the other hand, he could easily sign in Boston for his 12.5M and a no-movement then force his way out after 3 years too.

Also, like I said, ownership is CHEAP at heart. They will pay for playoff revenue but not to win beyond that. If it happens, great, if not, they don't care. Pasta's money on a non-playoff team will be a HUGE deterrent to this ownership.

Maybe add a depth guy without touching our roster guys, that would be the important part. Eller -Wash, Schenn-Van. Although a guy like Tanner Jeannot would be nice
During the summer I'd like to see if Fitz could swing a deal for a Morgan Frost type player (philly has no 2nd rnd pick this year, our 2nd with an add?)

Morgan Frost is the kind of guy the Flyers should KEEP being 23 and promising... however it's the exact type of player they will get rid of because they have no idea how to build a roster.

Boston has a ton of cap space available and should be emptying the cupboard completely. Yeah, it doesn't look great long-term but McAvoy's still there and maybe Boston figures out a way to get some more talent in there.

Ownership is cheap? The Bruins have almost always spent up to the salary cap. This is one of those charges that doesn't make much sense to me. Is ownership spiteful? Sure. But they paid McAvoy instead of hewing to their internal salary cap.

I am hoping so. Ya have to make it a bit interesting, and I think the Devs can do that.

Jacobs was the single person most responsible for the lockout.

I absolutely detest Pat Kane the human being. I've met him twice and he was an omega douche both times. Like, actually one of the lowest quality humans I've ever met. The taxi cab assault happened literally across the street from where I was living at the time.

If we somehow acquire him I'll grit my teeth and deal with it because it means we're serious about a Cup run, but I definitely won't be happy about it. f*** that guy.

Idk, when everyone was shitting on Jack around the league he was one of the few players after playing with him at the All Stars to say something along the lines of "He can do anything and everything I can, but better."
