I'm going to say something... and I think several of you will tell me to calm down.

The Devils have to win one or both of the games tonight and Sunday. But if they lose both, they won't make the playoffs. They went from having a 10 pt lead on the division... to now being behind Carolina 6 pts and being only 2 pts above the playoff line. This is BAD.

If you want to do this to yourself on December 30th you do you.

My fellow fanatics.

This team is missing half of it’s top 4. A top 6 player and the team MVP, Bastain! Plus, the perceived starting goalie was for out for a while.

McLeod is a classic center. I can’t complain, he has setup so many chances that his team can’t score.

The main issue has been Boqvist/Holtz. The third line is just a black-whole!

I think there is one tragic flaw with Holtz that may keep him from being useful (not skating). He is too focus on his slapper and his release on his shots are super slow. It’s the one thing Z and Sharan have over him.

One positive of the bad stretch, the Devils games won’t be get picked up by TNT, and I can watch more games.

You could be right but it's a little too soon to write off Holtz....He's too young and once they take them we gotta hope for the best....He can shoot and passes puck pretty good too...Hopefully when game comes quicker to him mentally he will play a bit quicker of a game because he will process everything quicker.....

Yelling is for amateurs. I’ve always relied on beatings with a riding crop and cat o’nine tails to encourage my boys. You know the old saying “spare the Iron Maiden spoil the child”.

Hard to say, but what’s more concerning than the Devils’ December record is that they are struggling against teams in the division.

Records against Devils:

Philly: 2-1
Rags: 1-1
Caps: 1-1
Cains: 1-0
Islanders: 1-1
Pens: 0-0

I agree, they need to play better against the Pens..

I"m ready to call Holtz a failure in NJ simply because its seems like the coaching staff don't know how to use him.

A 5 on 3 is the perfect time to use Holtz as a sniper but he was standing in front of the net! I really don't get it!

Holtz doesn't win races for pucks. He doesn't win 1 on 1 battles in the corner. He isn't making smart plays with the puck. He is a black hole right now, I'm not sure Clarke is better at this point but Holtz certainly needs to atleast get his confidence back. A shot is no good if you can't get into the positions to use it.

I question whether Clarke is a better option over Holtz as well, but kid is on a massive heater while Holtz needs some playing time and confidence.

I still think Tyce makes more sense for the team in a bottom 6 role right now

They’ll let Tyce make a case before they bring up Clarke.

Boqvist is a bit frustrating. Too much perimeter play off the entry. Either way, I might look to make a trade to CBJ this summer for a 4th or whatever.

Clarke is not a great skater either so not sure how much of a difference he'd make swapping in for Holtz

Nolan Foote for Henrique straight up? I don’t think anyone would have a problem doing that. I look Foote, but he has no future on the NHL team here. Probably mostly because of his poor skating.

Do we even currently have the cap space for Henrique at half retained?

Idk how to justify getting Boqvist in over a chance for Clarke or Thompson or Holtz going forward. Or whenever Bastian comes back

Boqvist has been elite on the PK, that should and will keep him in the lineup.
