In a lot of cases this is true, but for Nemec and the Devils I'm not sure it is, especially if Luke Hughes's deal starts this season. It's hard for a pick as high as Nemec to not get paid on a second deal.
With the way second contracts go, I want him getting paid for 8 years on his second deal and then have his mega breakout afterwards.

Defenseman generally develop a little slower than forwards so I think it’s even more likely you want to get a good defenseman’s ELC over ASAP.

I don’t want to speed up his UFA leverage though, just in case we go bridge deal, so I want to keep him under 40 games.

It’s not ideal that Luke and Nemec would both burn their ELC year this year but I’ll take that less ideal for the chance to lock in some savings over 8 years.

I don't understand the drama. We've all been on this internet thing for some time now. If someone jokingly fantasizes about assaulting you, and that's the worst threat you've gotten, you're one of the lucky ones. In fact, you might be doing it wrong.

Hell, I'm one of the most blandly inoffensive posters here and I still get weird shit thrown my way. I don't get the vapors about it.

This is extremely difficult to do. The Devils got very lucky that it happened with Jack Hughes, but they still paid Hughes a ton of money for something that was much more predictable. It doesn't work that way with defensemen.

It's just too likely that it ends up in a bridge deal. Moreover, even if it doesn't, I don't want a wide disparity between what Nemec is being paid and what he is worth in his D+4. The Devils will be needing every penny at that point.

It’s not ideal that Luke and Nemec would both burn their ELC year this year but I’ll take that less ideal for the chance to lock in some savings over 8 years.

The risks are too big here. If Nemec (and Hughes) were forwards, I'd say go for it, but they're not.

nemec most likely gets a 9 game tryout.

the player finds out, what he needs to work on most to become a nhl roster player. the team finds out, if moving a rhd is in the cards to manage the cap at the deadline.

i fully expect nemec to be assigned to utica after a few games and bahl or okhotyuk getting called up.

I still think we see Bahl play before Nemec.

There's just no room for Nemec to play at this point unless you want to toss him on the left side, which isn't really setting him up for success. Having Nemec on the final roster given his higher salary vs. Bahl plus his performance bonuses gave the Devils more cap flexibility.

I'm just not sure why CapFriendly is listing a 24 man roster with Bernier not on IR?

I really don’t wanna physically assault you. I’m not a violent person, although my posts have sometimes suggested a firestorm and nuclear bomb droppage on members of the goalie union, particularly every goalie the Devils have iced in the last decade, including the twilight era Brodeur.

Honestly, and I really mean this in all sincerity. Not too many hours after my post regarding assaulting you last night, one of my no-count neighbors (not sure who, but someone in the neighborhood) let their dog get out and it was outside barking as loud as can be at 12:30-1:00 AM. Not sure if these people work nights and it was just an accident that their dog got out or if they’re just incompetent assholes who shouldn’t own a dog, and maybe they somehow either slept through the dog barking or just didn’t care.

My point being, I remember thinking at one point “talk about physically assaulting someone. f*** these people man!” And I can tell you that episode (including some other fairly recent annoyances in my neighborhood, like the assholes that had their hazards coming right through my bedroom window, despite the fact that no other cars are coming down this road at 3:00 AM that are gonna barrel into their truck parked on the side of the road. And then the f***s somewhere around here that shot fireworks off every hour until 4:00 AM on January 1st and trying to give my dog a heart attack and keeping people like me who had to work up all night) made me infinitely more angry than anything you’ve ever posted.
I love how your apology ends up having the feel of a Son of Sam monologue.

Considering this place is an outdated message board with good portion of middle-aged posters who’ve been here a shockingly long time, it does often feel like we’re on our own island here. We tend to grouse a lot and make a lot of jokes. Twitter is often on the butt end of them.

HEY!!! That's not tr... um. Hmm. Huh. F***.

You know what? Get off my lawn.

Have I told anyone how much I love peanut butter? I mean I eat that stuff with a spoon right out of the jar. I like the all natural stuff with oils. Taste more nutty in my opinion.

And who does like the taste of nuts.

My wife loves to do this same thing, especially in the middle of the night. Then doesn't wash the spoon and throws it in the dishwasher, which then doesn't fully clean it. Major pet peeve, but I love her and accept it.

You know, you can just say "Test, can anyone see me post?"

Just because people weren't biting on your past couple "Nico is hurt all the time" posts, doesn't mean we can't see you, just means you are out of practice. You'll get it back again, I'm sure.

I do the same thing and my wife leaves it for me to wash in the sink...Some time we play who is going to break first and I'll leave that thing in the sink forever.

The peanut butter itself is sort of monotonous to me, but with some sort of sweetener added it's a solid snack. Typically I try to add a bit of fruit and some honey. Cashew butter is a much more fluid consistency but I prefer the taste of it. In today's world you can get all sorts of nut butters.

I like all nuts and seeds. Seriously...It might be my favorite flavor. Toasted sesame seeds is one of my favorites...Ever have sesame seed brittle? I LOVE that stuff. There is Asian market near my home that sells all kinds of sesame snacks that I buy all the time. Pumpkin seeds too. But any nut or seed I like.

I really need to say it again.

Ryan Graves will not be here anymore once we’re a powerhouse.

Unless we’re a powerhouse this year. He’s a pretty easy pass on signing beyond this year.
It's less about Ryan Graves and more about Fitzgerald making those less flashy less attractive and more foundation building moves that is going to help us long term

I appreciate y'all hearing me out

All apologies accepted, and I'm glad some of the more aggressive comments were meant to be not taken so seriously, but please keep in mind public forums can be read by anyone and it won't always be people who know your sense of humor or your intentions, and for a guy like me to read that stuff when I don't know who any of you are, it's unsettling!

That said, glad to be here and I hope I can contribute to the community! Prob won't be too active because Twitter takes up my time but I'll be around 😂
