PK’s skating that shift highlights why the Devils shouldn’t bring him back despite the ability to do some other things fine.

He made two great derensive plays on that play at least.

As I’ve said . He has provided good mins on that third pairing all season, especially playing with a struggling Ty. A LOT of the posters who gave him too much shit this season will be the first ones complaining if we don’t replace his adequate play on that 3rd pairing role.

I'm extremely confident that Ruff is not the coach for a single second of next year, but is it possible Recchi somehow survives to assist a new head coach?

What about Zacha here next year?

These are the two things I'm afraid of next more than us not getting at least one new goalie in here.

I think goalie is the most important, but locking Zacha up could be a DANGEROUS move on our part. And a cup crunching move in a couple of years, at that.

Ruff getting canned while Recchi stays is useless.

Well in your scenario Zacha literally pulls an Andy Dufresne and crawls through a River of poop to escape.

I think if you turn it to someone else, you just let them pick their staff...especially given that I don't think we are going to do the Martin St Louis thing where we just pick someone with no real experience.

Zacha has to be gone next year. He is the easiest to move out of he, Tatar and Johnsson and they are all the damn same at this point.

He's a better player than Yakov Trenin, but I feel like a Trenin type would be more beneficial to the structure of the team.

Looks like Bahl is leading the fancy stats tonight. Nice. Let's see where it goes.

There are zero signs that we are locking up Zacha long term and in fact, shockingly and probably at least in part due who his agent is, been lots of chatter that he’s a goner.

Also there are no long term contracts with Zacha that make sense, unless he wants to sign for dirt cheap, and again the chatter and human nature says that’s not happening.

I think we were trying to buy low on Boeser and Vancouver didn’t bite. Boston got DeBrusk signed and likely keeping him. Not sure what other “hockey trades” could have been possible.

Also not sure why a team would trade for an injured player like him then either, so his going nowhere was not surprising at all.

A trade would have been an amazing, delightful surprise, but the overriding theme for the post-TDL is We Can’t Have Nice Things.

Yeah, even Friedman mentioned in the 32 Thougths that he doesn't believe that Zacha is playing in the Devils next season. Or something like that.

You're right, but like I said ''Irrational paranoia'' on my part.

There were quite a few signs early on that he was falling out of favor here. From being sheltered at who he was matched up against on the other team, to being taken off the first unit of the power play and even the second unit for a time.

And then like literally as soon as Elliotte Friedman got on HNIC (which I just so happened to be watching live when it happened) and said Vancouver is interested, we started to boost his ice time, his power play time and then he even had a little bender after that.

You would still say logic and reason say he won't be here next year, but I'll be hiding under a rock and shaking and probably wetting myself until he's gone.
