Yeah....No he is not. Zacha has not proven to be more than a bottom six player. Tatar has been elite at driving play.

94...101/3= 32...34 line point production. Second line level of point production
59...80/3=20...27 line scoring production. First line scoring production.

And I didn't subtract the defensemen.

After last season, Zacha's haters should at least wait a little, but it's better to change their narrative. Zacha spent most of the season without Hischier in the line. And his goals are the result of his skills and decisions in most cases. He is not a line driver, not a great forechecker, he is just a good dependent top-6 player. Based on results and skills.
It's time to accept it.

You're putting too much value on those possession numbers and I can guarantee you they are inflated due to usage. Furthermore I'd bet anything that if used regularly here, not the boarderline 3rd line minutes he gets every where else but the Jack 17, 18 minutes he'll be nowhere in the neighborhood of 60%.
I`m lazy but i saw Johnsson was good in possession numbers. That`s all we can say about posession numbers.

People bashing Zacha must be reading their 2019 notes or re-experiencing 2019 all over again. He was great last season. If he improves he is finally becoming a real asset.
Nah man, his advanced stats say he sucks and we should've traded him while his value was high.

Not a big fan of Tatar and his playing style but the term is 2 years, so I guess I can deal with that.

I just don’t see all the excitement of adding a player that is above average offensively and below average everywhere else.

Pretty much my take. If this is a piece to improving the team incrementally then the logic is understandable. If Tatar is the "Top 6" forward the Devils had in mind I'm less optimistic.

New Jersey already has one small perimeter skill player who is a liability everywhere else. I guess Tatar's ability to score goals gives him a leg up in that regard.

No that is just pure sport for me...Because I still relish in remembering being told Josefson was a "possession monster" in 2015-16 with 54.3 CF% 9.8 relative along with amazing Beau Bennett being the play-driver the following year....It was just a matter of time before they started going in for these guys.

That is where your numbers took you then. And it cracks me up.

You literally cannot ever get anything right. Jacob Josefson did not have a 54.3% CF in 2015-16. Although this one I will lay at the feet of hockey-reference which inexplicably defaults to all situations Corsi now and I don't understand why they made that change.

Here's me in 2016 saying you can't ever get anything right

Here's me calling Josefson 'bad' and 'unlucky'

What a second . Is this the advanced stats , I hate Zacha thread ? I thought I was posting about Tatar sucking because he didn’t break 100 points and was scratched by the Habs in the playoffs .

Anyways , Zacha sucks . He did lead the team in points but his WWF and WKRP are unsustainable.
Also his fancy player card that looks like it was made by EA Sports NHL hockey video game designers , it says he blows .
However these do not take into account variables such as :
What was the humidity in the building when he scored his points ?
What was the temperature of the pucks he was using when he was producing vs when he wasn’t ? I think this plays into it more than we think . He has trouble handling and shooting pucks that are not optimal temperature as they lose some velocity with the flex of stick he uses

His LMFAOG/min is pretty bad too, but his BFF/game with Bratt is the best.

I get stat lines wrong...you get career trajectories wrong based on the stat line...seems we're even.

He is a stop gap. He will not be a Devil in 23-24.

Not liking this move. We could have had Jersey favorite K-Palms for about the same or maybe even less, who will continue to be the much better player for the next several years. And on top of that we just gifted him to Lou and the NYb by letting them re-sign him. That was a very bad move on Fitz’s part. Just letting a division rival maintain its powerhouse status.

And don’t forget, the Rags and Philly have had an outstanding summer too, and you know Rawly, Pitts and Wash will continue to be dominant. We even missed out on Coleman. Not liking this deal by Fitz one bit.

I like the signing. Solid effective scorer. Good depth addition who will contribute. He's still in that age where he'll give us production and we won't be on the hook for his decline. Makes the team better...can't not like it

We need more scoring, but this does help things a bit

The signing makes sense, we could always use more scoring but more importantly, it buys us development time for our young forwards that aren't ready for prime time.

It's even more egregious that we let Josh Jacobs go to Rawly. First it was MacDonald and now Jacobs.
