I think outsider fans see Fox and judge him by points.

They see a 5'11, 190 pound guy who probably nets 5-10 goals, around 50ish points and I think that paints a certain picture in their head.

I don't think they take into account how complete his game is in every zone. The guy is keystone, without even showing up on the scoreboard.

All that people outside the NYR universe need to see is a clip of how he keeps the puck inside the blue line and the play alive in the offensive zone, with two opposing players draped over him, to realize how good he is.

Someone lamented Miller’s lack of physical play but I disagree. As long as he’s in the position to stop forward progress of rushing forwards or, even better, separate them from a puck - that’s physical enough for me!

He's been responsible for a few GA in situations where he needed to take the body or tie someone up.

Yeah I'm not an anti-Pionk guy but the difference between Fox and Pionk with the eye test is startling, compared to what conclusions you might draw looking at their relative stats and size.

As a rookie with less than 20 NHL games under his belt and 5 years of playing the position at all he’s done enough. The rest is managing expectations.

I'm not unhappy with him at all. I'm just pointing out a couple of nits, in all fairness.

He actually rode a guy into the boards legally yesterday, didn't pull up at all for once, progress. We don't need Lindgren, Trouba, or dare I say Howden type of open ice hits, just be physical enough in the dirty areas behind and in front of the net to make the opposition tired and sore by the game's end. Fox tries but can't, Miller can.

Miller has alot to learn yet; no surprise. however, what he can do is remarkable at this point in his development. We have a potential Chris Pronger on our hands. and I think once he gets comfortable in the league he will start leaning on guys with alot more force and little more nastiness.

Smith stinks. bad decisions, bad skating, bad puck management. Lovable guy; bad D-man.
Smith is a 6-7 defenseman. When he’s forced up in the lineup he either needs someone to carry him or he gets exposed hard.

Here's to coach Quinn. He seems to be the right man for the job so far. Not easy and he's doing his best. I think he's handling most responsibilities, including the Mika Z situation, very well. It was time to do something. That could've blown up in his face if the Rangers lost last night. This place would've erupted. Anyway, somebody needs to give the man his props. Count me in.

I think Joe Micheletti's comments embodied Quinn's thinking. Joe was knives out on Mika last night. Basically, he's used up the length of rope and goodwill that he got as a veteran and a past high-performer. Quinn also benched Marc Staal for the first time in his career, so Quinn has shown that he can do the deed. It's just way past our collective patience.

It's always amusing because you know the commentators don't want to be too critical and ruin their relationships with players on the team, but it's gotten so noticeable that they can't help themselves, and they've pissed Kreider off as a consequence.

Like Joe was super super quiet about just how bad Kakko was last season

It looks like the name of a logical principle like Occam's Razor lol

Legend has it that Herbert Kellogg was about to unveil Kellogg's Vector when he was beaten to the punch by Isaac Newton and his unveiling of the first law of motion, which was essentially the same principle. To rub it in, Newton promptly unveiled his second and third laws of motion. Kellogg retreated to the northern coast of Greenland to live out his life as a hermit.

Quinn was a bit disingenuous in his post game comments when he mentioned that Mika seemed to play a bit better after the benching. The coach failed to point out that MZ's inability to stop the pass directly caused Shesterkin to explode post to post, resulting in an injury, the seriousness of which is undetermined. Dan Rosen reports the goalie is still being evaluated by doctors as of today's practice. As for last night's play, Fox busted ass to get back and increase pressure, Shesty squared for the shot, Mika, the last man back, failed to stop the pass. Insult to injury.

too bad old Herb didn’t live long enough to enjoy his posthumous mega fame that came with the discovery of his recipe for Rice Krispies treats

I want a look at what Ramsay did right after. I thought it looked like they were stretching his back, but I wanted another look at that
Nobody's mentioning the trip, where he fell over backwards. True, seemed like he was fine at the time. For me, just seems a little too coincidental. Maybe he partially tweaked something falling backwards and didnt notice anything. Of course I have no way of knowing......just mentioning the possibility.

Yea looking back on what I was talking about, it looks more like Ramsay was trying to lift him up from his pants. I don’t think there’s any way to know just from watching the injury, gotta wait for the test results.
