GDT: Devils @ Rangers 7PM MSGSN MSG

Keep in mind folks that this team hasn’t even had to endure any significant injuries up to this point in the season. And the goaltending has been improved from years past.

Heaven help us if even just one of our top 5 forwards goes down for than a couple of games.
We have 5 top forwards?

One win on the trip when they played mostly garbage teams is dogshit, sorry. The standard should be a bit higher, especially since they're usually better on the road to start with! Next three games aren't gonna be easy either.
The results were poor, but there was obviously lots of hard luck getting zero points in a couple of those games. You can play far worse than that and win a couple of those in regulation because hockey is stupid.

Also if you’re going to claim Cup contenders grind out points when they aren’t their best then how is this team a Cup contender?? They f***ing blew the Ducks and Sharks games without managing to “grind out a point”

Igor didn't have to do much tonight and the Bratt goal was shit, so it's not like we got shut down by him.

That was probably evening out (market correction lol) for the two post hits in the 1st.

The Mercer SH breakaway save and the chance that Mercer had in the slot he got with his pads were pretty good saves. Really wish Kovacevic got his chance on net....., felt like that was the game right there

Ah, nothing like abandoning ship in the downward stretch of an 82 game season when we're past the halfway mark and in a playoff spot.

December 2022 all over again for some.

I mean I think that's more on the people who haven't been watching. The things plaguing them right now have plagued them since first period of game 1. It's honestly up to Fitz to correct them and I expect him to in short order. He's a very proactive GM, he won't let this team just die in a season after showing good results.

Eh, I thought Mercer could have done better there. I was glad he got a breakaway though, as it was one less shift in our end. Where we were camped out in for literally the entirety of the 3rd period.

The breakaway? Probably, but that's his go to move and he also decided his move too late for a guy like Shesterkin which is easy pickings for him. I wish he just ripped a shot from the slot on Shesty.

Probably at the deadline or just before.

Not many trades of consequence are made this early in the year, though there have been a few made this year already. Nothing too big, but a few Rangers sent away and Blackwood (and Wedgewood lol) sent to Colorado.

Keefe alluded to fatigue a few times. I mean, its not an excuse, but they have been visibly a step off lately. Hopefully being home for a bit helps

The issue is the East is so garbage that every GM probably thinks they're in it with a quick W3-4 which I mean I can understand the logic so maybe we don't see trades this year until deadline day or teams fall out way before like the Islanders

The Tampa Bay Lightning got zero (0) points against Anaheim and San Jose over their last stretch of games.

If Siegenthaler didn’t hit the ref we’d be a cup contender, but sadly Cody Ceci proved we were not contenders with that season ending goal.

He can’t afford to, his job could literally hang on them not collapsing out of the playoffs

Carolina has been a house of horrors for them, I can't see them winning a series where Rod can just match Keefe's life away at home unless Markstrom flat out steal that series like Igor has done in years past

We will get bottom 6 help. And I'll be confident if we can win one of the first games. Before that, we desperately need another center and depth defensemen.

I missed this one sorry. Had a feeling 3 in a row against NYR was too much.

Timo? Nico? Anybody home?

Maybe we finally beat Tampa for once.

Devils are due for a win vs TB and TOR

also due for a loss against FLA

I would love at least 3 pts in the next 3. Then focus on that easier schedule which goes to the tournament

Funny enough, Devils are playing a really good brand of playoff hockey this season. They will be a hard out no matter where they end up in the seeding.
Markstrom showing he can actually stand on his head at times to keep us in a game/steal one is the most important development of the season. Goalie and PP is so often what determines who moves on.
