Really what folks should be concerned about is the fact that last night is the new book on how to beat the "New" NYR. They took away our space... and forced us to dump the puck. Marty handles the puck so well and we aren't as strong on the boards anymore.

Recipe for disaster.

Same with the PP. We couldn't enter the zone.

If AV doesn't have an answer to the way the Devs played last night... we will struggle against anyone playing that style.

You forgot that the other team needs a great game from the goaltender. Brodeur was great. The Rangers got plenty of chances. I'm never shy to admit when the Rangers throw a bunch of cream puffs on net. That wasn't the case there. I missed the first, but while we had fewer A+ chances than in the Panthers game, I thought we were consistently applying more pressure and getting chances in general. Every time the Rangers lose people post about the flaws and that the Rangers got "figured out". Every team loses once in a while. This loss was more bad luck than anything.

You missed the first? Lucky you, it was ugly boring hockey!

Agreed with this post. Trap teams trap because they can't score for ****. It's their only way to win. Hank plays like Hank and this is a win.
That is absolutely not true. Trap teams trap because that is the way that they choose to play defense. There have been some very talented trapping teams over the years.

Tend to lose USUALLY? No, they lose THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME.
I'm sorry that this fact has made you so upset, but take it out on the NYR, not me.

If I told you that the it was "When the Rangers get scored on first they win the majority of the time", would you have started this argument with me? Probably not, because it's a positive towards the Rangers.

This board doesn't like to hear anything bad said about the Rangers. Even when it's staring them right in the face.

2009-2010,2010-2011,2011-2012 seasons. Looks like you're wrong that we are bad in this spot as we are number 8 overall. Obviously all teams lose more often than they win given 1 goal handicaps. data via http://www.hockeycentral.co.uk/nhlstats/nhl-firstgoal.php

In the modern NHL that's the way it is, IMO. Obviously there have been very talented trapping teams, but in the new NHL teams trap when they are gassed, protecting a lead, or can't score much. The Devils can't score much.

The Devils did not do much trapping in that game at all. They had two guys down low most of the night. They're boring to watch because they're painfully slow.

"Trap" teams wouldn't allow the Rangers to get 35 shots on goal and several odd-man rushes, depending on huge save from Marty Brodeur. Huuuuge difference between heavy forechecking and trapping, huge differences.

They need to get these guys back and healthy. Moore will help a lot I believe. While not an offensive guy, will allow players to slot back into their spots and give flexibility in the bottom 6.

This team is not lacking top 6 play right now. It is the middle of the lineup, the 3rd line guys who have to find something. Pouliot and Brassard need to do something on that 3rd line. Maybe find a forward to play with them. Think Hags slots with them upon Nash's return. Dorsett is fine, but better served in 4th line role. Need to find a depth 3rd liner at some point for injury concerns. Miller is not ready for that. Of the guys in Hartford, I'd try Hrivik. Best blend of grit and skill for 3rd line play. Doing well in AHL.

Brassard will shine when Nash returns, who should start easy on the 3rd.

Dorsett-Brassard-Nash...the Columbus line :)

True but something has do be done. Right now, it's painful to watch Brassard when I know how well he can perform.

Well something should not include breaking up your best line. That was the ding dong mentality of John Tortorella. Oh look Stepan's hot let's put him with two pylons to spark their game.

No.

“That’s the world I live in, as a goalie,†he said. “You can do twenty good things and one bad thing and you only talk about the bad thing. But, at the same time, I can have games where I make a mistake and we still win the game and people think I played really well. That’s my world. That’s a goalie’s world. You just have to accept it.†- Henrik Lundqvist

An important quote for all the Hank bashers on this forum.

I feel like that's a direct jab at HFBoards.

That's an awesome quote. Best example of that is when they played the Caps in the 08-09 playoffs. The Rangers got absolutely destroyed by Washington but Hank took it to seven games. Years later a lot of people talk about that series and act like he played poorly because he ended up with a 3.00 GAA. That was some of the best goaltending of his career.

Yea, games 5 and 6 inflated his GAA for the series. He was phenomenal in that series, but is used against him. Fatigue a d Washington being better got to him.

Brassard is struggling and i think zucc can help.

Pouilet-Brassard-Zucc

I get that Brassard could use some change of scenery to get back to his PO shape.. but I feel that even if you put Brass and Zucc together, there is still the elephant on the ice to deal with, and he trips people 24/7
