another great win and Mcleod looks like a beast as usual
And another game where we’ve just hung in the race and survived. These points are huge. We just need to stay in contention until we can get some of our better players back. We got a few bounces but we took advantage of that and made them stand up. Fine game by Dawes. Outplayed Bobrovsky.

I’ll take 3 out of 4 points in Florida any time and in any season but it was particularly important now when we’ve got no more margin for error or for losing streaks.

didn’t see a single devils goal because I was chasing my 3 year old around the concourse like a rabid dog, but seeing her face when she saw the ice for the first time was 10/10.

quick shout out to the morbidly obese loser who sat next to us. as I walked past you (at intermission), you needed to stand up to give me room to get out of the row. you loudly said “are you f***ing kidding me?” and groaned like someone made you run a lap around the gym. i kicked your beer over on purpose, and later in the game when you stretched and your belly popped out from under your panthers sweatshirt I said “mix in a salad or something buddy” loud enough for your wife to hear — and laugh — at you.

also quick shout out to the devils fan behind me who told his girlfriend we drafted nico daws first overall. so close homie.

go devils

The Flyers are legitimately a sound and competitive team that’s now gaining confidence and getting better game by game. They have good goal tending and solid defense. They are young and athletic and are starting to believe. They have enough firepower with Tippet, Koneckny, Farrabee and also play a physical game. To me they are the big surprise of the year in the Metro and right now I like their chances better than I like the Caps or the Isles.

I mean who expected this ?

They win on effort and tremendous discipline. They very obviously lack talent big time. When the other talented teams start ratcheting up the pressure, I don't know that the flyers can keep up. They don't have another gear. This is everything they have every night.

yeah, I agree. I think everything is just kind of going their way right now. I don't think it lasts, and once the more talented teams get into the stretch, they will struggle.

The Haula crossbar, the goal waived off. They had it in the 3rd. I hope good karma gives them a win against Panthers this weekend. Maybe a Daws 1 goal against game, you heard it here first. As @Bleedred always says, things have a way of balancing out
Posted this in the Lightning GDT. You’re welcome ;)

Actually, this is me…..

In the Reebok Brodeur jersey (I’m still stuck in my ways with the Reebok, CCM and even starter jerseys days lol) at the very bottom.

You just see the back of my head and my phone in my left hand. I’m wearing a black hat. I wish I could see that view during the Marino empty net goal. I was already standing well before it.

Honestly, we did not at all play a bad 1st period. Everybody was agreeing with that at the game. Especially Panthers fans.

I liked our 1st period. I liked the start to our 2nd period.

It was just that we hit the snooze button after 3-0.

This game reminded me of the Seattle game in some ways. One of our other very few 1 goal against games where we also gave up about roughly the same number of shots and seemed to really just weather a lead all game after a nice start. Though was only a one goal lead. I think we had a good start against Seattle, but just defended the rest of the game and spent much of the remainder of it in our zone.

We did that again tonight. Not sure if that was the lack of talent on display tonight in our lineup or what.

I really thought Daws was getting the shutout. He probably would have if we killed that penalty and didn’t allow a last minute goal in the 2nd. If he kept them off in the 3rd period I don’t see why still wouldn’t have at 3-0.

Luke Hughes is a ridiculous skater. Dude comes with a trunk full of laughing gas and when he hits the button he zooms past anything ahead of him.

These two points were so crucial and badly needed. Not sure if maybe they’re the good fortune from some of those brutal goaltended games that we punted or a giveback on some of those home losses to the Blue Jackets, Sharks, Ducks, finally in our favor with our C team beating a strong Panthers team on a 9 game winning streak in their building.

a future top pairing of Luke and Simon will be the best D pair in the NHL IMO
Yea that’s just an unfair pairing of skill. Luke can roam and go absolutely rogue, and Simon can be the study presence covering his ass while also sneakily contributing a lot on O.

Lmao, I forgot how bad the Panther announcers are. Go to 5:50 at the Haula goal, the color commentator says "for the love of salmon sandwiches and rubber boots". Never heard that one before.

Also, what was with the stingy scoring summary last night? From rewatching, Nico should definitely get an assist on the Haula goal and Tierney looks like he deserves one on Marino's ENG.

Bahl always looks good to me in person. I don’t know why, but he looks solid in person. I think he can carve out a career like Merrill where he kicks around the league for a really long time, but I also don’t think he’s really a piece that will be here super long term either.

He’s a monster in person too. Some of these guys line huge in person when you’re that close to them.

Even Smith is huge in person.

Bratt not so much. Same with Jack.

Luke looks big but a bit skinny. Normal for a 20 year old player.

I guess Mercer got hurt in the 1st? He didn’t miss many shifts though.
He blocked a shot from the point on one of his skates I believe. Went immediately off and down the tunnel. Last few minutes of the 1st.
