They definitely outplayed Tampa. They were not the better team tonight. Other than goaltending, tonight is not a performance that you want to try to replicate.

Getting quality goaltending is reason enough to be over the moon. Obviously we aren’t winning many games being on the back foot as much as we were today. But we’re also not playing teams as good as Florida every night either. We just played a great game with the same lineup against a lesser playoff team.
We’re just in survival mode with our guys down, but I wouldn’t expect most games to look this lopsided.

Yeah why don't they play like this every night and have Florida hit the post on a bunch of chances and miss the net on others and actually get stops on the big chances they did give up.

This is true but I think we played a great game. Our breakouts were short passes, blocked allot of shots (Nico, Mercer with memorable ones) and we played like we need to play against a good team.
Daws came up with the ones the posts didn't get and that's all that matters

Wasn't about result. We were controlling the puck a lot in the 1st. I don't know what 1st period you were seeing. I don't mean this as a swipe I did not see us being outplayed in 1st all.

Disagree completely.
They played one of the best and hottest teams but they played exactly how they need to play. If they replicated tonight's effort they'd win against 9 out of ten teams.
(Although if FLA was all ten teams, we'd lose nine, like you say). Gotta give em credit

Just be happy lly they won. Holy shit alot of other teams would be too if they were missing some of their best players and beat the hottest team in the NHL on the road.
The Devils offense would have been better with Jack , Timo , Palat and Dougie. They would of pushed offense more but even with all those guys in the lineup this wouldn't be some walk in the park win. Goaltending was huge for the Devils tonight but the team infront gave a great effort and played a good game for the most part. The game changes when you are leading in the back half of the 3rd period.

It’s definitely a great win. They’re missing half of the team and finally got goaltending.

Florida was just that good and we got a little lucky but Daws got a chance to see the puck and make a play and he did.
Great game by him, but great defensive effort too!
I missed most of the first. But even with a 3-0 lead, you don't want to get dominated that badly.
But 3-0 vs a better(healthier) team definitely plays into how badly we were dominated.
I highly doubt we see us get dominated to that level again anytime soon.

Have to admit...I got very concerned when I saw Bratt skate off with an injury...and thought the worst.

Daws gave up 1 goal on 3.1 expected goals. He straight up stole 2 points for the Devils this season against the hottest team in the league.
Enjoy it, but let’s not blow this out of proportion like it’s one of the better games they’ve played.
