There are plenty of Dmen available this deadline for a GM to not sell the farm on a player like Severson. Chychrun is likely the only Dman with term moving at deadline unless it's a cap dump.. There are close to 12/13 confirmed seller GMs already with still 30 games to go

Yes but Severson a good RHD at 2 mil ?? Name me some better D at 2 mil . Thats huge for contenders tight to cap for 2 more playoff runs.

I like Severson but I don't think the Oilers are going to pay what fans on here are demanding.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it would be EDM, i just mean in a larger, broader sense.

We just saw Risto get a first, second and JAG NHL bottom pair guy and he's a worse player, more expensive and had less team control. Teams love their RHD.

I've seem multiple people (not just this tread) act like the return on Severson shouldn't even be a first (someone in the Tampa thread said he was a second round player)

Now this could certainly be the case. I can't really comment on the way the market is going to play out, but there is a bit of a defender saturation. Its why I don't think that Graves gets moved.

But if Severson is moved, it's going to be expensive. That may also ultimately be why he's not moved.

If severson gets dealt this TDL, people are really going to be surprised by how much he gets in return, I think.

I'd tend agree as I think Severson is really underrated on these boards, though it appears that the defenseman market may be saturated this TDL, which may make it difficult for NJ to get an acceptable package.

Ideally, if Severson were to get dealt it would be a similar situation to Blake Coleman's - where Tampa knew they were going to be tight up against the cap for both playoff runs they acquired Coleman, thus really increasing his value to Tampa. A defenseman such as Severson for 2 playoff runs at just a $2.1M cap hit is rather valuable.

No he's not.

I hated NJ trading for Subban from the moment he was announced, but he'd be a good addition to most teams' bottom pairing.

Subban fn sucks. He's terrible. He makes Barrie look like an all star at this point in his career.

Agreed.

I also agree that he's unlikely to be moved as I Don't think there will be a team willing to pay the cost to secure him in a market this saturated with potential defenders.

IMO, Zacha for Jesse isn't close. Jesse's value is closer to Severson's.

I think the Devils are getting poor value, but the adds also don't make sense for us. We need LD and goalie upgrades, you're giving us a 3rd line winger and a RD.

Oh ya Gilles is the McDavid of goalies for tanking ( elite of the elite for tanking ) .He is a 7’19” guy that try’s to play a stand up style . Essentially it’s him whiffing on half the shots he faces and the other half just happen to hit him due to pure luck and size.

Graves would be a great add for Oilers if he becomes available. Pass on Zacha.. I value M.McLeod more than Zacha if adding a forward from NJ

i don't think graves is untouchable. but considering the price the devils paid (with colorado not having a protection slot for him) and the season graves had, the devils would be looking for something better, than second (#61) and prospect (maltsev).

the oilers already traded away their 3rd, 4th and conditionally their second. not sure, if edmonton would move their first (lottery protected). the young roster player, which would be of interest for the devils (e.g. bouchard), wouldn't be available and in the prospect ranks, i see mostly overlaps in strength and weakness.

Regardless of how much you value Koskinen or not. They aint traiding him if no goalie goes theirs way.

Smith have the worst stats of all goalie with 10 games +
Skinner haven't been trusted to play against playoff team yet.
