This would have been early September '08. It did seem like kind of a tough place. I was living in northern New England and did a big Maritimes road trip.

During the 2000 finals there was a player from the same town on the Stars (Jon Sim), so there was a story about the town getting a visit from the cup regardless of which team won.
Jon and Colin actually played on the same teams in hockey growing up. He is now coaching the U18 Weeks AAA. Jon has a young fella playing in London Knights who was drafted last year by Blues and another fella on Weeks team

Did u make it to Cape Breton and do some golfing?

Well here’s the shift chart:

Now basically I like all of Hockey Viz’s charts except that one, my brain rejects it. But if it works for anyone else cool.

Here’s the even strength times for forwards (the time in parentheses is total ES ice time).

3rd Period Even Strength
Nico: 7:05 (15:57)
Shara: 6:19 (15:38)
Hughes: 6:18 (15:58)
Bratt: 6:14 (13:56)
Haula: 5:37 (13:34)
Wood: 5:11 (13:09)
Mercer: 5:03 (11:59)
Zetterlund: 3:53 (12:45)
Tatar: 3:46 (12:32)
Boqvist: 2:21 (9:49)
Bastian: 1:08 (8:26)
McLeod: 1:01 (8:59)

So Hughes was with Mercer & Shara:

Haula was put with Wood & Zetterlund:

Then Nico was put with Bratt and Tatar and when that didn’t do much they put Boqvist there.(You can see Tatar played a bit with Haula & Wood at the end.)

And the bench was shortened.

I screw stuff like that up on my phone all the time between typing inaccuracy and autocorrect
Hard to shove up my nose for sure

In hindsight, I do think firing the coach would've been a bad move. That would tell the players it's not on them that their record is bad, and it was just the coach. The players needed to have some accountability drilled into them and they have done just that. The players have stepped up. I don't give a rats ass about Ruff, this is all the players.
When u beat Avs, things started turning

Couldn't watch last night - I'm up at 5:45 and can't function on 5 hours sleep. Recorded the replay and watching it now. :) Other than the first shot Vanecek faced, he looks good. The BMW line playing well. Life is good. :D

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

He’s still very young to be captain. I am sure there are days he wishes some veteran was captain. Still this is his team with Jack Bratt and soon Luke and Nemec and so it makes sense to have him grow into the role. Fitz said as much in a recent interview. He tries as hard as anyone on the team and he has a pretty well put together locker room so he is fortunate.

I was definitely of the belief that locker room was a frat house at times. Perhaps I was wrong. :D

Welcome to life as cap team in the NHL that is trying to win. Everyone would like to upgrade. The biggest question mark the Devils had coming into the season was goaltending. It became more of a question last night.
Did it, really?

I thought it was a question prior to Blackwood's injury.

In fact, it's been a question for quite awhile.

I do think that it's less of a question with VV in goal now...we just need a reliable backup.
