Yeah regarding Timo, I would have to think that even though he didn’t play again, they wouldn’t let him back on the bench if he wasn’t cleared from something significant.

Hopefully he’s rested and as close to 100% as can be for tomorrow.

And on the top scorers needing to contribute, while obvious, I’ll be shocked if we can’t get more pucks in the net in this series with Carolina’s goaltending vs. Shesterkin. I think if we continue to generate chances at a high clip we will be OK.

The likelihood of the above happening again has to be virtually nonexistent.

I’m a little worried Meier comes back too soon. I don’t trust hockey in general, or at least the NHL, when it comes to prioritizing a player’s health over getting them in the lineup asap.

But if he’s not ready for game 1, it’s pretty crazy that despite trading Zetterlund and Johnsson away, we still have Sharangovich and Boqvist able to step in. I was looking at the 2012 roster and at least as far as games played are concerned, if the Devils had lost a forward in the early rounds, the next guy in would’ve been Eric Boulton. Then Cam Janssen, then Tedenby and Josefson. Much different vibe around today’s Devils than there was 11 years ago.

I think the cup is up for grabs. Toronto may be a slight favorite. But as we saw with Boston, anything can happen this year. All the remaining teams have a shot. And I don’t know why, I find the Kracken a bit scary with their 4 lines. We’ll see soon enough who are the teams with the best chances to win a championship.
A Seattle-NJ Final would be divine.

Well Josefson wound up playing a decent amount of those playoffs, but I guess he came in for Sykora early in the Rangers series? And you did specify early rounds.

Do we know if MSG is picking up any of the telecasts? Or are they all just national now?

honest to god i don’t remember Josefson playing in the playoffs at all. The biggest quirk i remember of those playoffs are Larsson kickstarting the comeback against Philly and then barely playing again, and Tim Sestito getting the only playoff GP of his career.

Actually i guess that makes it clear Sestito would’ve been in before Boulton or Janssen.

I think we match up well against Carolina, though they have proven all year to be tough to play against, even with all of the injuries.

My biggest concern with them is how well coached they are. Brind-a-mour is fantastic and will coach his ass off. Goaltending is going to be the x-factor here. We need Akira to stay hot.
Unlike last round, I think we're coming into this one with Akira being the superior goalie. It doesn't mean he WILL be, but there's really nothing at all good about Andersen anymore. Guy is clearly nothing but (dated) reputation anymore. Anybody arguing that he's good is stuck in 2019. He's a has-been and pretty broken down and he's had one better than mediocre season in the last 4 years.

And Raanta was the Rangers best player in game 6 of that series last year with two pathetic softies at MSG before the game was even 10 minutes old. I'm sure the Rangers and their fans would have much rather have gotten to come out and play us with Raanta in nets last night (or current Andersen) than Akira Schmid.

I think Edmonton is the favorite. I've been pumping them up for most of the year now.

McDavid is coming for the cup. If he doesn't win a cup by 2025, I think we're all gonna look back and be shocked that he played 10 years before getting a cup. He's that good.

If for some reason he doesn't win the cup by 2025, I think he will eventually and likely more than once. Even if he has to get traded somewhere else to do so.

Of course the big concern with Timo is a potential concussion, and I'd hope they don't rush him back if he may have one. But he looked fine yesterday and he missed that time getting stitches? On top of concussion protocol I'm sure.

I infamously remember Sestito getting in one of those Philly games because Carter had food poisoning I want to say.

Shocking to think about, honestly.

Jake I think got hurt at the very end of the season which led to Gio coming in and never letting go of the 4th line center spot, but I do remember Jake getting in during the Rangers series for a game or two. Totally forget who he came in for, though.

I'd imagine there was lots of emotions for every guy on that team after winning game 7. my only worry is that they expended some of that energy after winning last night and may let their foot off the gas ever so slightly. canes are such a tough team on the forecheck, much faster than the rangers, and have a much better d. with that being said, unless the canes pull some scoring out of their ass (which is entirely possible come playoff time- there's always one guy who pops off outta nowhere) I see the devils winning in 6.

game 1 worries me though. quick turnaround after an emotional game

Kovalchuk did miss game 2 of the Flyers series, which I think Sestito played in that one in his absence lol. The game where Larsson scored the goal.

I feel like this is the fifth or sixth time I've pointed this out, but last night was the 11th anniversary of game 2 of that series and tomorrow night is the 11th anniversary of game 3 of that series, which was the Ponikarovsky OT winner.

And fittingly enough, the 11th anniversary of game 1 of that series (our only loss of that series) was the same night of game 6 (Which we lost) of this year.

We really shouldn’t be playing Timo immediately. Regardless of whatever tests they ran on him, he suffered a major blow to the head that left him unable to get up for a time.

NFL doctors tried to say Tua didn’t have a concussion after slamming his head on the ground and wobbling to the ground shortly after. And then he had a horrible one not long after. We need to look out for Timo’s health, you know he wants to play right away.

I trust the team with this tbh. If he can’t play, he won’t. Him coming back on the bench and for the handshake line was a very good sign though imo
