Oh well, would've been nice to win both but a split is fine. The silver lining here is that, for the rest of the regular season, I no longer have to watch Brent Burns tee up one timers from the blue line the moment he gets the puck every single time without fail. Very happy about this
I am happy not to see Burns bearded one-toothed f'n face....period.

it’s a poor angle and a weak shot. those “stretched out sticks” forced him to take a weak angle and prevented a normal release. it was a muffin.

of course we’d call it soft, because that’s what it was - soft.

X doubt

If that was Tyson Jost - i'd buy it. It's Sebastian Aho. Good players find ways to get results.

Overshadowed by the Timo call was the HORRENDOUS non call on the trip on Luke which directly led to a scoring chance and penalty. Also the egregious cheapshot by Orlov which should of been a game misconduct or at the very least a Devils PP

Been watching hockey for 25 years, thats a top 5 crap ref game right there. LOL at Canes nation saying refs you suck. Holy moly, that red state education really showing

Bratt elbowed during the major. The blatant interference funny enough by Necas on Timo in the first. Just f***ing brutal.

I literally just watched it. Only thing in front of Aho was stretched out sticks.

If that was Jack Hughes scoring we wouldn't be blaming the goalie and calling it soft.

Yes we would. Do you remember the goal he scored on Quick lol. People definitely called that a softy. Allen kept them in the game hard for 40 minutes. They've consistently played considerably worse in front of Allen this year than Markstrom. Also the 2nd goal was definitely a softy by Allen.

They'll win out in California then lose to Seattle because that's just what they do (SJ does scare me though since they have trouble with them for whatever reason). Then they'll run the Rangers out of the building and get ran out of the building by Tampa because that's also what they do.
I think we can beat San Jose since Blackwood is gone lol.
Holy hyperbole. Last time this board was super cranky was because of the softies Marckstrom gave up. Then he went on his run.

I'm not disputing Allen has not had good results the last 4 games. But to blame him for tonight, where we got outshot nearly 2-1....
I’d like to see Allen go on a run. I think his run was the start of this season. That’s likely his peak here.

Not saying he won’t have a couple good games, but he’s a career mediocre goalie and less than a mediocre goalie in the last month.

He’s old and probably washed. But he kind of looked bad a lot of times when he was young. He may not be old and washed, he may just be Jake Allen. This is who he is.

Again, this is why Binnington has an NHL career. The Blues miss the playoffs with Allen as their starter that cup year. I’m pretty sure when they were “in last place on new years” that season it was when Allen was the starter and Binnington may have either just gotten there or was yet to be called up.

I’ve nailed goalies on several Hughes goals this year and throughout his career.

It’s still a shit goal whether it’s Hughes or Kenny Sutton.

i don't recall what was said on the boards for that goal (i was driving and listening). But my point stands - good players just sometimes get the goals.

That's about as much as we were gonna get from Keefe, nice not-so-subtle digs there

He’s being careful to walk the line, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the league fined him for “impugning the integrity of the officials” or whatever they call it when they have to defend some blind ass refs.

It was a breakdown in our own end where Sebastian Aho was allowed to get a clean shot. That's what all-star players do - they make things happen.

EDIT Regardless of that goal. Dude is the only reason we were in it. We were outshot 2-1. That's my main point.

We crucified Marckstrom for giving up a goal against Toronto when the devil scored 1 goal. Allen played well and kept this team in it

Absolutely hilarious MoneyPuck had the Canes with a lower xG in this game than last night. That model was so broken for last nights game.

Goalie is 0-4-0 with an .861% and 4 GAA in his last 4 starts on a TOP team in the East/league, but isn’t a problem because the team got outplayed. And he wasn’t a problem when he handed Washington the game winner because he was the only reason that game was close before his now customary collapse late.

This is the same Stockholm syndrome that had some people defending the other shit head goalies here over recent years.

Actually, you know what? I tap out. He’s NOT a problem. You know why he’s not a problem? Because we’ve been lucky enough that we’ve only had to suffer through 4 games of him in the last 29 days.

And he hasn’t played more because he isn’t any good.

I mean, we would because we have. We have scored softies.

He was near the point man. It was a terrible terrible goal to allow. Not particularly hard or well placed shot. It killed the momentum.
