The difference between home and away vs Carolina is insane. We’re fine at home vs them but we can’t do shit in Carolina. We’re likely not winning the division because the Caps apparently don’t lose so getting the 2 seed is going to be huge.

We’re winning the division.

I mean I could have stopped that 2nd goal, we just got a big goal to make it 2-1 and he absolutely killed all the momentum with that. He played awesome in the first two periods but it doesn't make up for the fact that he laid a giant turd of a goal there.

And who was on the ice for the defensive breakdown that let Sebastian Aho have a wide-open shot on him?

EDIT: if it was the tables turned, and that was Jack, would you think the goalie gave up a shit goal? Or that Jack just has a goal scoring touch?

People look pretty optimistic in here after this game even though it’s a L. I like that.
I'm bummed we couldn't match their play and hang with them tonight, but I know we didn't get a good game from the goalie, who totally torpedoed us starting in the last minute of the 2nd.

Markstrom could have a bad game, he's had them this year, but I think it's safe to say we had a better chance of winning this one with him.

Put Allen in quite a few of those games over the last month (some of them were easy for Markstrom, to be fair) and I could totally see them going the other way, considering the way his last 4 games have turned out.

He's due to have a good game or even a good stretch again, but his last 4 games have been the worst 4 game stretch of goaltending we've had this year. And I know they're isolated games because he's the backup. But that's why he's the backup. Because he isn't that good and he never has been.

That's why we know who Jordan Binnington is. He made an NHL career out of usurping a very bad Allen in 2019 and going on a hot streak all the way to the cup out of it.

They’ve won like once in the last 6-7 games I’ve been at either in NJ or here. Getting tired of watching them lose and paying hundreds or more for the privilege :)

Would've been nice if Nico repaid the favor and bailed him out on the rush he got right after the 2-2 goal after Allen bailed them out the first 2 periods. A goal there likely swings the game in our favor.

I don't care. Make a save.

That was maybe the softest goal we've allowed this year.

I watch all the goals all over the league, that's a brutal one.

There may be a worse one tonight, and there may not be a worse one tonight.

Guy has been JUNK for 4 straight starts now too. So he's not earning any points because he played well for 2 periods. He played well for 2 periods against Washington in the game that started this 0-4-0 stretch before he did what he did tonight.

Much easier when at least part of it is due to feeling like you got jobbed by the refs.

The Canes deserved to win this one, but it felt like we were still in it with a fighting chance before the ref f***ery tilted the scales.

One thing I'll say is that he made harder saves on Aho tonight than the second goal. You can't be giving up shots of that quality to good players but he made harder saves so it's a goal that Allen, himself, will be very pissed on giving up

Love this man

He was great in first two periods and gave them a chance. Shame he let in a poopy one in the third. Nothing more needs to be analyzed there
First goal was also a stinker.

Forgivable, especially with the team being on an almost 2 minute shift in the D-zone, but after the 2nd goal? Nope.

And again he's 0-4-0 in his last 4 starts with an .861% and a 4 GAA. Not good enough. TRASH.

It's not just a bad game or period, it's 4 bad games. Thank god he only played 3 this month.

Absolutely love that he said this, because it’s all true.

Honestly took him long enough to publicly call out the refs. Unless I missed it did he say anything after the Blues game? He should've said something there but idk if he didn't because we still got blown out.

Those 2 shorthanded chances at the end of the 2nd were something alright.

Overshadowed by the Timo call was the HORRENDOUS non call on the trip on Luke which directly led to a scoring chance and penalty. Also the egregious cheapshot by Orlov which should of been a game misconduct or at the very least a Devils PP

Been watching hockey for 25 years, thats a top 5 crap ref game right there. LOL at Canes nation saying refs you suck. Holy moly, that red state education really showing

Yeah, like he made a save on Aho on those chances so it's just obvious hockey shit that the softest shot Aho shot goes in tonight lol

I literally just watched it. Only thing in front of Aho was stretched out sticks.

If that was Jack Hughes scoring we wouldn't be blaming the goalie and calling it soft.
it’s a poor angle and a weak shot. those “stretched out sticks” forced him to take a weak angle and prevented a normal release. it was a muffin.

of course we’d call it soft, because that’s what it was - soft.

Holy hyperbole. Last time this board was super cranky was because of the softies Marckstrom gave up. Then he went on his run.

I'm not disputing Allen has not had good results the last 4 games. But to blame him for tonight, where we got outshot nearly 2-1....
