Hard not to think the season's over regardless. It'll just be a bit more dramatic now if he's out long term.

Team has a good foundation, but they are miles away and the roster construction up front is terrible with or without Jack. I'm just ready to limp into the playoffs, lose in the first round, and try again next year.

The roster construction isn't terrible. My god every team has some not so good contracts. If the Devils didn't have so many players slump offensively this season than they wouldn't be struggling this bad. They honestly really just need 2 forwards (top 6 wing and a 3C) and their lines would be night and day better...These were realistic pieces they can aquire at the trade deadline.

They have put up almost 2 full months of this garbage but weren't doing that prior. The goaltending and defense were all fixed by Fitzgerald. Why have they looked bad 5 on 5 , on the PP and PK latley ? That has to fall on Keefe and his staff a bit. There's no reason for a team to suddenly start to play worse as the season goes on...

There's nothing wrong with Keefe doing that. It's a freak injury on a 2-1.

So you would have proffered the "Ruff Treatment" and just roll the lines and mail it in?

Keefe might be the only one in management trying to actually win games

I get that, I'm just saying it's probably my last resort to go this hard for a game where none of the skaters are legit doing anything offensively. I commend Keefe for not giving up but going for it there felt half hearted with the game they were playing tonight.

Legit impossible to win when one on your top 3 lines is this terrible. Sinks momentum offensively, can't be relied on defensively, don't even trust them against opposing bottom 6s much less better competition.

Unless he got his wind knocked out, but that replay showed him going arm/shoulder first again, almost identical to the st. Louis crash a season ago, except this time he went faster shoulder first

Hilarious that Fitz has let this putrid depth go unfixed.

Our D and goaltending is in a great spot. All you have to do is look at the numbers. Unfortunately Fitz has done poorly with the forward group. Timo just isn’t producing enough offensively for the price tag. Mercer has regressed. Haula appears to be done. McLeod is a prick. It’s clear as day what needs to be done. We need a 3rd line that can take a regular shift and produce. You’re going nowhere getting zilch from the bottom 6

I agree with you. If they miss he should be gone, BUT i just think thats going to be what saves him

I'm slightly optimistic that Jack isn't out for the rest of the season, but we're probably looking at a couple of weeks. I bet it'll be one of those ''Reevaluated in another week or two'' things.

The team was painfully mid and offensively inept even with him in the lineup.

Jack’s last two injuries are freak unlucky plays from trips right in front of the boards. That to me isn’t “injury prone” stuff. Holy f*** does that suck.

He also got slammed on his shoulder by that Kraken player a while back too, he's had a bad luck of injuries in his career

Yeah if Jack's out for a long period and they get pumped in the first round that's one thing, but that's still no excuse for missing the playoffs entirely from the 99.8% chance I was told they'd make it the last two months any time someone brought it up at the possibility.

Yeah. I miss that one season where we’d roll lines and skate teams into the ground. Hope Fitzgerald sees what’s happened and makes the adjustments going forward.
