The top 6 probably needs to be fixed too. Slightly.

We can’t have 2025 Palat in the top 6.
Absolutely. I agree and while that’s true, Palat in the top 6 would’ve been fine this year if our bottom 6 was better/if we had contributions from the bottom 6. That’s the crazy part lol.

I know its a “small” thing but letting go of Boqvist was beyond stupid . That type of mentality is why we are here. I am still pissed about that.

I’d kill for Boq to be centering our bottom 6 at the moment. League min contract too

Get down in your bunker, you can't mention that name here without being labelled a dumbass here

LOL, Fitz is f***ing horrendous man
Haula went from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024 without playing for the same team two full seasons in a row. He played for Vegas two full seasons in a row, but only played 15 games the second year. I’m assuming because of injury.

And he played for four different teams between the last team he spent two full seasons in a row with (Vegas) and us.

I have no idea why we needed to sign him for 3 years and why we couldn’t get him for only 2. Didn’t we even give him a raise (at 32 years old) from the contract we inherited him on?

We’re not gonna get a single 40 point season out of Palat as a Devil.

It's the point that people on this board will nit pick and complain about anything with a superstar forward in NJ. he same shit happened with Kovy and Hall when they were here too

Attitude has a lot to do with that as well. Jack with his "people pay" comment, Kovalchuk dicked the organization around, and Hall never really seemed to embrace the idea of being in NJ fueling that feeling with the hand to the ear.

I don't mind Boqvist being gone, if he was at least replaced with someone as versatile and fast as him. The problem was having a bottom 6 that appears slower. As I said though, thankfully, it’s probably a pretty easy fix.

I don’t recall anyone here complaining about Hall much until the end when he decided to be a little bitch towards the fans.

The Kovy criticisms came from like two posters, I don’t know why you’re making it seem like it was a widespread thing.

I wouldn’t even consider what we’re doing about Jack as “complaining”. The kid is small and seems to have a harder time staying on his skates than comparable players, and appears to be fragile and prone to bad injuries…it is what it is.

For people saying Jack isn’t injury prone just use the term unlucky prone then. Either way you can’t count on the guy making the full season.
Even if people don't wanna admit injury prone...can they at least acknowledge him falling on his ass 10 times a game is a problem?

The fact that he's nearly 24 and in his 6th season, yet loses his edge repeatedly or gets knocked off the puck by a light breeze is unacceptable. What other allegedly elite player spends a material amount of the game on his ass? Seriously. I want a comparable forward that isn't new to the league. It's f'ing comical at this point.

This. I don't get why people are so enamored of this JAG.

Were you not here for Jacob Josefson? Marcus Johanson? He's almost a carbon copy with the tiniest smidge better speed.

I maintain that I don’t care about Boqvist the player so much. Or the other actual guys we lost.

I’m more critical of the fact we went in another direction from the speedy rush team we were that year.

But I am glad we didn’t sign guys like Wood, Severson and Graves.

Oh I wish we kept Boqvist, but I agree with not giving up our speed identity.

Welp. They are still 3 gms up on a playoff spot with 20 gms to go. Trade deadline coming up, sounds like we will have LTIR space to play with. Tom will 100% be active as its his ass on the line. Should be a very interesting week

Boqvist is a martyr of sorts. The issue is not they got rid of him as a player, granted he was a good player with no inherent risk of losing to something major, but the fact they shifted their identity from a deep 4 line team to a team that wanted to build themselves into the mold of Florida which is objectively hilarious because Florida is 1:1 and can't be duplicate. This team should've been playing like the Avalanche but we got the f***ing Lou/Trotz Islanders

Repasted from my post earlier.

What comes across most is he’s in a lot of pain. The way he lifts his head up as he’s kneeling and holding the forearm, and then looks back down and takes a deep breath before getting up. And the way Eichel is worried about him and touching him on the shoulder. And skating off too, there’s a moment he’s trying to just bear it.

Also the way he first rolls over in his back after the initial moment of lying there. Broken bone if I have to guess. Might have got caught under him awkwardly and not been the blow into the boards so much as his own weight on the ice.

My heart breaks for him. Such a competitor. There it was just a meaningless play at the end of a lost game but he’s going 150%.

Yet we can’t just quit the season. Nico, Bratt, Meier and Luke are going to have to carry us the rest of the way. We have sufficient goaltending and defensive structure to remain competitive but things just got so much harder.

I really hate that both Haula and Palat are signed next year.

I’d rather sign Janne Kuokkanen than see Haula play here again.

Palat can’t play with Jack Bratt next year if he’s gonna be here. 30 point pace while playing with a couple of guys on a 90 point pace.

Buyout Haula and see if we can dump Palat. I’d be fine with dumping Haula if we can, but I’m not sure we can with him. I’m not sure if we can with either of them.
Haula and Palat both need to be replaced.

The holes are glaringly obvious. Top 6 winger, both bottom 6 centers.

My mistake then, when I mention this I meant the fanbase as a totality not just on HFB lol. Kovy got a lot of slander when he got here and they lost to Philly the first year and then the whole drama with his contract. It is complaining when it's something 99% of the leagues players will get hurt on.

I don't believe Hall ever wanted to be here, but then again, he doesn't ever seem to want to be wherever he is so there's that.

The Kovalchuk situation was a shitshow at the end.

Jack is .... :dunno:

I'm not sure about this take.

If the assertion is that Noesen is slower, yeah. I don't think Cotter is any significantly slower, despite his size. Who are people taking about? Dowling? (Faster). Lazar? Probably the tiniest bit slower.

Everyone else was already here, so?

These are two very different players

Marcus was a 20 goal 50 pt guy in his prime

Josefson is the actual JAG, never got close to 10 goals in a season. Boqvist already has done that like 4 times

Boqvist is currently in between those two as a solid bottom 6 center option with fantastic wheels (exactly what we need)

The bottom 6 is easier to fix. I’m confident a lot can be done to improve it in 1 offseason. Maybe Fitz even has something to help it long term before the deadline.
Bottom 6 is going to be tough fix because we need centers and they are always at a premium.

Bring back Toffoli after we put jack on LTIR? Lol.

Send Mercer to sharks. Kidding, all.

Definitely agree. It absolutely sucks that it was a less meaningful time to go balls out and get wrecked with 1 min to go in pretty much a done game, and then get wrecked like that.

Hoping for some good news, but it looks doom and gloom for sure.

It’s not even about the player specifically, it’s the mentality. You let Boq go but have no problem signing a useless goon who’s not even good at being a goon to a three year contract. If the GM’s name was Lou we’d never hear the end of how much of a dinosaur move that was.
