We've had that at points this year as well + we can't score at all and the bottom 6 is completely decimated. This team is also a chore to watch, I've been the most checked out watching a Devils team I have ever been because of what Fitz has done up front and Jack/Bratt having to carry this team nightly since NYE's which is shades of 17-18 Hall

Legit, the 17-18 team might wind up being better than this year’s.

Because this fanbase will complain about superstar players because they're not 90's Devils players. We've already seen what this team has done when the fanbase/media has called them soft and told them to get tougher. They've regressed up front, keep saying Jack is soft/injury prone/etc and not a player you can't win with and they'll trade him for some dogshit return

The group needs a bottom 6 revamp, and a top 6 add. Other than that, I’m fine with the top 6 elements, the defense and the goaltending.

It sucks cause we’re not in a good position right nos, but overall and for the future, I don’t think this team is in trouble. The pieces are there, but surrounding cast needs to be upgraded though. As much as people don’t want to here it, our group is pretty young and barely starting to enter its prime, with more important elements to come (Casey, Nemec, Silayev, Yegorov, Malek, Gritsyuk, Lenni, etc.).

We’ve been saying this for 3-4 years now? I’m not at all saying we need to blow up the core but it needs an injection of 1-2 natural goal scorers on top of what everyone knows about this horrid bottom 6.

The D is also flawed as currently constructed, that could fix itself if Nemec and/or Casey can eventually get their defensive act together. But that’s no given.

Nobody is trading Jack stop it. I don’t know why you are blaming fans and media for the construction of the team. This isn’t Toronto, I very much doubt Fitz gives a shit what anyone outside of his management circle says. This team is constructed the way it is because that’s what Fitz decided to do on his own (or perhaps by committee with some spreadsheet junkies on the staff).

You're naive if you don't think what was said after the Carolina series had any change in what Fitz did the past 2 years and then added bonus of Florida winning the cup last year

Does a player fall down more often then Jack? I haven't seen it. It is absurd.

He needs to get his fitness figured out, find a way to be stronger on his skates. He is basically the same height as Crosby - yet you would never have them compared size wise given Jack gives up 25 pounds.

I wish I could be that confident. I don’t think finding natural goal scorers is an easy fix, and Fitz has not proven that he can address our areas of need without f***ing up other parts of the team at the same time.

I’m big on trust in my life and this team and this organization has earned hardly any across more than a decade now.

Palat can’t play with Jack Bratt next year if he’s gonna be here. 30 point pace while playing with a couple of guys on a 90 point pace.

Buyout Haula and see if we can dump Palat. I’d be fine with dumping Haula if we can, but I’m not sure we can with him. I’m not sure if we can with either of them.

We need more forwards who can fly and produce. The Jack hate here is bonkers. If you want to be good again, we need more speed and skill on the forward group.

The problem with this team is that we don't have enough players like Jack Hughes.

I love the people in here who want him to be "gritty" and "tough". Start lifting!

This reminds me of the idiot Red Sox fans who LOVED Trot Nixon and hated Manny Ramirez. Trot was dirty, dove all over the place and got back up, his hat was filthy, he was sweating all the time, running into walls. THAT was the player they loved. The guy hitting 50 bombs and driving in 130 was the problem.

I wouldn’t say our D is flawed . Statically we are in the top part of the league for defensive stats . Goals against , shots against etc etc etc . With three really good pieces still coming too . I’d say our D is looking really good . Luke hasn’t even come close to his prime yet either .
It’s our bottom 6 forward group that is dogshit . Shut down Jack and Nico and we are not winning anything. Simple as that. Too many useless pieces that bring nothing positive . Haula Tatar Bastian Mercer Dowling . All do nothing. Trade Mercer , dump the rest somehow . Pay assets to get rid of them or package in a trade where we add a piece / pick in order to get rid of the deadweight .

This is just confirmation bias. What was said is typical old school stuff - it’s kind of naive to think that Fitz had a more modern vision for the team in his head and changed his mind because he heard other people talk about it and gave a crap what they think, as opposed to the more likely scenario that he just has the same old school mentality as so many other people in hockey do.

I agree with that but then all the bullshit Rempe shit happened and he went full nimrod mode with the forward group but at the same time the Carolina series, people began questioning if they could win with this fast paced tempo as if the 21-22 Avs the year prior didn't destroy the playoffs with a similar blueprint.
