He's worthless to us on IR. Hockey is a contact sport. There's legitimate concerns around building your team around a player who can't stay healthy and there are lots of super talented players that don't make the Hall of Fame in every sport.

I love Jack, and wish him all the best, but right now this is a pretty tough night for the franchise.

These are two very different players

Marcus was a 20 goal 50 pt guy in his prime

Josefson is the actual JAG, never got close to 10 goals in a season. Boqvist already has done that like 4 times

Boqvist is currently in between those two as a solid bottom 6 center option with fantastic wheels (exactly what we need)

Lol no. Marcus saw 20 goals twice in his whole career and was generally a non factor despite what seemed like skating and talent. He scored 17 total with us in parts of two seasons.

Boquist has 90 points in 294 games. He's better than both of their guys were with us, but that just makes him prince of the jags.

I don't think he has carved out a legit role in Florida. I think chances are, especially with Tkachuk on LTIR, Boqvist will be headed to the press box during the playoffs when they'll get someone else to fill his spot. Perhaps he's avoided that fate with the performance so far this year.

The Devils did not have dogshit there when they let him walk. They do now. Hey who knows, when Florida non-tenders him - and they will, if he doesn't sign a contract first, there is no chance he gets a qualifying offer - maybe he ends up back here.

It's exactly like last year. No traction since late December. Something is seriously wrong with this team. And with Jack out, the playoffs are very unlikely at this point. Very sad, but then again, they wouldn't have gone very far anyway.

That’s another thing that’s not discussed much. The Devils are one of the most mentally fragile groups in the league. If a single thing goes wrong, they fold like a bad poker hand. They have a sense of entitlement, this feeling that they can get their way out of anything, and when that doesn’t happen their play suffers. Anyone who thinks they can rally around this setback isn’t paying attention- they do not have that mentality.

Forget winning with this core, they can’t even make the playoffs. It’s that bad. And Keefe is not the coach who can make them get their heads out of their asses and play like men.
