My problem with this team is too often they have the arrogance that they are.
The Devils didn’t look arrogant to me tonight.

They were working hard but nobody was able to control a puck.

Arrogant, to me, would show up on not going to the boards, not blocking shots, not back checking, the things that are hard work, etc…but they did those things tonight.

It's hilarious that EVERY LOSS is like this. Were people expecting them to go 82-0?

I wanted better/good hockey from them after the TB loss and I was PISSSSEEDDDD. They've given us good hockey since that game. 1 meh game tonight doesn't change that for me.

Let's see what they do Monday.

But Washington lost to NJ, who isn’t good enough, so Washington can’t be good since they lost to a “worse” team.

I think the original point that trying to good teams don’t lose to bad teams is silly and isn’t true. Good teams win more often but bad teams do beat good teams at times.

I've been pumping Washington's tires all year, that was a good win and OTL point we got from them lol. It's still the idea they don't show up for games against the West/bottom feeders in the East which they should be winning in blowouts like tonight.

Yup. Their issues have generally not been the same they were last year outside of a couple disaster games. Even then I don't think the issues last year were "cockiness" or whatever other horse shit people chalk it up to. It was bad defensive coaching and bad goaltending.

maybe they aren't, so what?

It's disappointing in the past 10 years 2x #1, a #2, a #4, #6, #7 (bust), haven't led to better results.

They've proven they have the talent to get to 112 points with an even lesser roster, but mentally they don't have it. They honestly just come off as a team that lacks work ethic. Like a lot of them have their paychecks, make more in a single year than most people here will in a lifetime, and that's it.

1 meh game in the last 5. End of the world.

The performance here is worse than the performance on the ice tonight lmao.

Come on people!
They’re 4-4-2 in the last ten. They’ve sucked and are under .500.

This isnt a rebuilding pile of shit team that can moral victory its way to another bad year.

They played fine against the Isles from the parts I've seen and I was basically on red alert on them at that time lol.

I think the difference here is how we think of meh then. Meh is fine to me. I think both that game and this game were largely pretty even games. That's meh to me

I'd honestly argue the 2nd Washington game we lose in OT was 10x worse than the game tonight.

This kind of stuff is pretty normal. Look at the Oilers. How long did it take them to actually start making the playoffs. Took McDavid and even then, they're still meh

The doooom posters never show up during a win. Almost only exclusively show up on games going south and Only the negatives and with such exaggeration. Very tiresome around here.

I'm not sure why this still is a narrative. They do show up, they just nitpick some things to downplay the win lol. Been seeing that consistently

If they package Bratt with Hischier at the deadline maybe they can return a first round pick and a good prospect for the rebuild

They ‘didn’t have their legs’, didn’t have the jump after they had their 6-0 party on the ice, got dominated early…that tells me they thought they could Harlem Globetrotters their way through this one.

Yeah I see that a lot and that's kind of unfortunate tbh. Every single things about bad games is nitpicked and overanalyzed, while the good stuff/and wins is/are basically brushed aside and barely mentioned lol.

I see a lot of positive signs with this team. Hopefully they keep playing like they've been for the most part in the last week and a half.

I don’t think tonight was awful outside the lack of offensive production. It was a fluke goal that went in and a bad pinch in a desperate situation down 1 with five minutes to go. They almost got a similar bounce that Calgary got a minute before.

Most times I'm out of this GDT during the games since I'm like 1-2 mins behind because that new Gotham Sports App is so downright dogshit to watch games on, only thing I miss about cable lol. That's why my posts come after the game usually, it's not trying to be negative after losses

Progress is not always linear. I also think it's bullshit to say a team that won 52 games two years ago "doesn't have it mentally". You don't win that much over a long season just coasting on talent alone.

It was one of their best defensive performances but also by far their worst offensively.

I think they were both bad in their own ways, both super winnable, I give the Caps a lot of flowers this year so that game didn't totally bother me as much to lose especially the 2 separate 2 goal comebacks we had. The worry about that game was we wondered if Markstrom would show up, this game was a lot less annoying if that makes sense. I don't think people expect us to be shutout most times this year but shutout to Calgary after they've been bleeding goals is a bit aggravating lol
