Devils fans throw beer on ice, Leafs bench. Cause delay of game.

They should make it so that if fans do this type of crap again the game is automatically forfeited and the away team should get the win.

Or, minus 1 point from a potential 2 points, if the home team wins. It will deter fans from doing something like that again. Chucking full cans of beers and trying to hit the players is criminal battery.

I don't know if it will ultimately help or not (a group of people rolling with a mob mentality really doesn't care or think about the consequences of their actions) but I definitely agree that there should be some sort of punishment. I don't know if they would take points away, but I don't have any problems with a forfeit on the most extreme level or a five minute major on the most minor level.

The goalie has a right to enter back into his net. The NJ players path prevented him from doing so. Had he gone the long way round, he would not have made contact with the goalie, thus it is not a reasonable effort to avoid contact when there was a safer route to leave the zone. If you were more than a casual fan you would know that.

Sure, buddy. Good luck with your future endeavors, my man.

and after every game the fans should get a trophy and a pat on the head for their good behaviour.

Terribly funny that you think the beer cans were full.

I never said it wasn’t a bad look. I literally went on Leafs HF and apologized, shit, I was literally hit in the lower level.

But many takes on here acting like this bullshit wouldn’t happen in their arena is laughable.

No need to apologize to Leafs fans, to be honest.
There are so many horrible Leafs fans that there is a non-zero number that would have done the same thing.

Can we all just agree that throwing shit on the ice is reprehensible.
Regardless of the circumstances.

It doesn't matter if you're protesting your team, another team, the officials, the weather, or because you're a child and mommy won't let you have the candy bar at the game.

I was shocked that NJ didn't get a delay of game penalty against them.
I was also shocked that Murray didn't get a delay of game penalty for the net incident.

And for those who will use the excuse that the arena didn't do a good enough job showing why they were called back, well blame the NHL for that.
Also blame the culture of act first, and get clarification after.

i'd be pretty heated too if i watched 3(!) goals get called back. wouldn't throw stuff on the ice, but i'd be pissed

devils fans probably figured the league rigged the game for the leafs

Even if you thought it was a reasonable effort, you have to remember that the goalie must always have the ability to make the save. Anytime there is contact even outside of the crease, you're never gonna get the call for a goal.

If you were more than a casual fan you would know that, it's right there in the rules:

(1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal

I agree. ALL FANS WHO THROW ITEMS ARE BOTTOM OF BARREL AND DESERVE TO BE BANNED FOR LIFE. I never once said otherwise.

I just absolutely hate people acting like their city won’t do that. Ridiculous. Give them the right circumstance and the shit of the fanbase will surface.

As for the no delay of game. Chris Rooney has a long history of bad called games against the Devils. He’s well known amongst our fanbase and know when he’s calling a game. Giving toronto a 5 on 3 from a fan penalty would have made the arena explode even more.

Great post. Though, not that it makes it right or something that should necessarily be considered.. I thinking calling a penalty on the fans there may have set things off even more in an already tenuous situation.

They usually also issue a 'warning' first. The warning did go out and while there were still a scattered few things launched onto the ice, it did generally stop afterwards. I wouldn't have minded if they were called for a delay of game penalty there as would have been well-earned at that point.

Whatever you say my guy. I don't begrudge you your opinion. Just hold tight to your insults. I'm sure they will work wonders in the future.

I mean in the end it is just a game and the refs probably thought it was worth setting off the hundred + idiots again.

Less chance of people getting hurt > powerplay imo.

man you really suck at reading comprehension. leave the analysis of the rules to the big boys.. you stick to watching the games and being the gatekeeper for who can call themselves more than a casual fan.

bolded is patently false according to the very rules you've posted about 5 times now..

It's not what I say, it's what the rules say. You have to see it from my perspective, when you watch the game for 25 years+, and how frustrating it is to explain the rules to someone who learned about hockey during covid.

Damn, I wouldn't have pegged you for an adult, tbh. Ah well, get some right, get some wrong.

But hey, whatever you have to tell yourself to wake up in the morning, keep chugging along, my man. I wish you nothing but the best.

Marner saying fans deliberately aiming at players. Beers thrown at Sandin.

Scumbag stuff.

Leafs players were literally mocking the crowd calling for it when they won. So yeah, it will be heading their way.

Again, not condoning this bullshit by the scumbags of the fanbase.

Good job dude. You made a well thought out opinion that even the person you argued with said was valid and then you say something like that and throw all your integrity down the drain.

oh dang i was thinking you were in like middle school and your mom let you stay up late tonight. it's hard to keep up with the rules and all over such a long period of being a "not casual" fan. I like helping out the elderly so I'll break it down for you:

1) Contact in the crease =
any contact (whether incidental or intentional) results in a no goal and should be a penalty if deemed intentional

2) Contact outside the crease =
a) intentional contact results in a no goal and a 2 minute penalty
b) incidental contact where a player makes a reasonable effort to avoid contact (does not mean they avoid contact) results in a goal
c) incidental contact where a player does not make reasonable effort to avoid contact results in no goal

there are nuances to this but I hope this short guide serves you well in your "not casual" viewing experiences
