Where do you see him make a reasonable effort to avoid contact here? He's skating on the same curve and speed pretty much the whole way through.

Honest question. Aren't all players entitled to ice/position? If goalie is out of crease, I mean?

Yes, I already responded to that and said that it was unnecessary when Jays fans did that, too. I'm capable of calling out 'fans' from the same city as me.

It's also funny that you seem super bothered about Jays fans doing it 10 years ago, but are then defending Devils fans doing it tonight by calling it entertaining and a good atmosphere. Which one is it?
Guess its okay for for you to defend your fans and city but when dozens of Toronto fans Slander the entire state of NJ its perfectly fine.

I never condoned what some Devils fans did tonight. I'm just pointing out the Huge hypocrisy of A LOT of Leaf fans in this thread.

It took the Toronto Laughs 3 dissallowed goals, the first two of which were ridiculous calls, three posts, and Murray being a wall, from what were two periods of hockey where one team dominated the other in every way. Just one of those games where things don't go your way. Laughs had zero business winning this game for anyone who watched. Devils dominated them at will.

Some devil fans through beer on the ice? The Horror!! I hope we reopen those reeducation camps and track down these evildoers......I shan't be able to sleep tonight!!

Am I defending my fans and my city? I pretty clearly said the Jays fans that did that were wrong and that it was disrespectful and unnecessary. I haven't said anything about Leafs fans posting in this thread, my first post was about tonight being disrespectful and you got upset and brought up the Jays incident from a decade ago. If you didn't condone what some Devils fans did tonight then I'm not sure why you took offense to my initial post.

Translation: Get over it, we all get boned.

Instead of saying that, how about the league is accountable for calling goals on same similar shit or not wiping out similar plays out or we not allowed to have accountability for the league?

Consistency would be cool.

I’ve seen this posted in a whole bunch of places, but IMO there’s a pretty clear difference between the two plays. This one is just a goalie accidentally stepping on a guy’s skate, which is the definition of incidental contact. The Tatar play is an extremely obvious no-goal, and it’s hard to imagine anyone would want a play like that one to actually count.

Honestly all Leafs fans look the same to me at the moment. I'm to tired to go back and figure out if I misquoted someone in the heat of the moment.

Congrats on the Win.

I can’t blame Devils fans for doing this. The game seemed fixed the way legitimate Devils goals were getting called back.. has anyone ever seen 3 disallowed calls in a game before?

Ok?

You also don't want people here to paint all Devils fans with the same brush but you're sort of doing the same thing.

Anyways, glad we both agree that the actions of some Devils fans was over the top.

Not if the player interferes with the goalie going to his net.

69.4 Contact Outside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates any contact with a goalkeeper, other than incidental contact, while the goalkeeper is outside his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such unnecessary contact. When a goalkeeper has played the puck outside of his crease and is then prevented from returning to his crease area due to the deliberate actions of an attacking player, such player may be penalized for goalkeeper interference. Similarly, the goalkeeper may be penalized, if by his actions outside of his crease he deliberately interferes with an attacking player who is attempting to play the puck or an opponent.

It's not a good look at all. Flat out fail from us NJ fans. The rules are frustrating but it's as written, I guess. I don't think I can ever defend throwing stuff at an opposing team or beers on the ice. Not exactly the 2011 riots, but a memorable, infamous day for sure.

But at least we can relish that it's just the beginning of all the salt that's going to come our way. The villain is back.

Easy win for the leafs missing their top 3 D. None of those three goals go in if the Devils dont cheat. All three were obvious. The only one I can understand uneducated fans would doubt is the first one. And anyone that actually knows hockey knows the blue paint is the goalies to be able to position themselves to stop the puck. He wasn’t pushed in. Or else players would do it all game long. Jersey fans are a bunch of cry babies. Refs got all three right.

Whether or not it's incidental.

I actually think that's tougher than the first one
Incidental contact is still enough to reverse a goal. It is clearly spelled out in the rules. But lets stay on topic about what lowlifes the NJ fans are for throwing beer cans at the Leaf players.

This is pretty much what it comes down to: Is the contact incidental or not. Its subjective, and the NHL decided that the contact wasn't incidental and that was that.

So technically, right call mainly because they decided it wasn't incidental. If they had decided it was incidental, the goal would have counted and that would have been the right call as well.

I'm unsure if the refs on ice made this determination, or the league office.
