Yeah don't think this team has it this year and this management is clueless. McDavid is tired of him and Drai having to do everything for the group and it's catching up to him after gassing himself out last season it looks like.

It's incredibly tough to make a Finals two years in a row, the few teams that have done it in recent history were all exceptionally well built with good goaltending as a backstop (Tampa - Vasilevsky, Florida - Bob/Stolarz, Pittsburgh - MAF/Murray, that's five goalies better than any one we have).

They're still better than this of course and can possibly win a round or two, but virtually no one is having a good season by their standards except Draisaitl, none of the new additions have fit in that well or at all, both goalies are back ups, that isn't gonna get it done unless management hits it out of the park at the deadline.

We all were. Who would’ve thought guys like Arvidsson would be busts of signings while we were fine with the likes of Foegele being gone.
Jackson and bowman still have an opportunity to redeem themselves with the deadline but I have little optimism anymore. I wonder what McDavid actually thinks, he’d never say publicly. I think he probably signs but Katz is wasting his money and McDavids legacy if he hired yet another GM that doesn’t properly address goaltending. “Good enough” is the attitude, “someone else might be worse”. When we won that lottery the time to f*** around was over, don’t settle on “good enough”, aim as high as possible.

It feels like our management gives up year after year, like they gotta play it safe and don’t do anything mid season. Yet when they do make a bold move they get Ekholm, the futures we gave were mid like pretty much every 1st rounder we were afraid to part with.

We’ve got Akey and O’Reilly basically. If we just traded all of our picks years ago we could have the team we dream of.
