Agreed.Nico HAS to be a lifer. Nico eventually moving onto another team would upset me even more than if Jack left.

His 11.6 million dollar cap hit is insane if he doesn't regain his form. Doesn't matter if the cap goes up either. We need a slight retool with the forwards this summer, not a potential anchor of a contract with Petersson. We already have the Dougie, Palat and to an extent Meier deals.Issue there is Jack misses a ton of time and Nico needs help defensively which Pettersson could alleviate
Obviously there are other ways to do this but no other team can afford Pettersson's contract today/tomorrow without serious cap dumps
Is there anything actually linking us to EP40?
Also secret reporter discord. (Which I don’t actually disbelieve happened but it’s funny to write)Twitter boobs
I don't think Pettersson is actually available but if he is and could be had for a reasonable price then I'd absolutely be interested in Pettersson. He's an elite two way center that prior to this season was a career PPG player. $11.6M for that is easily justifiable and with the cap set to jump up significantly over the next three years that $11.6M could look like a bargain. His 11.6 million dollar cap hit is insane if he doesn't regain his form. An 11 mil per reclamation project at that tooPeople really want Petersson ? We are set with our top 2 centers. Petersson has a ton of skill but the last thing we need is a somewhat reclamation project.
Where do you play him though? We have two elite Cs already . Unless you slap him on the wing next to Jack and folks in at C when needed ?I don't think Pettersson is actually available but if he is and could be had for a reasonable price then I'd absolutely be interested in Pettersson. He put up 89 points just last season with elite defense and 102 points the year before that. Crazy to think 55 games of subpar play outweighs his career as a PPG elite defensive center. An 11 mil per reclamation project at that too
They are playing important games and his game is still off since they moved Miller. Quinn Hughes being hurt shouldn't impact his game this much if it has been used as an excuse. Then we have to worry if he meshes here as well. Especially on the powerplay and having to play possibly as a wing instead of center.I don't think Pettersson is actually available but if he is and could be had for a reasonable price then I'd absolutely be interested in Pettersson. Canucks can’t even stomach moving Boeser unless they’re getting a player back or can flip the return for one. Aquillini won’t let them rebuild. Hard to imagine Mercer and Nemec/Casey++ is enough for them to stomach losing two star centers in one season
What do you think is more of an indicator moving forward. His 55 games this season or his previous 400+ games? They are playing important games and his game is still off since they moved Miller. I don't think its just this year that is the issue - he was not productive to end last year, playoffs included. He put up 89 points just last season with elite defense and 102 points the year before that. Crazy to think 55 games of subpar play outweighs his career as a PPG elite defensive center.

However I read in a Caps-centric publication on line yesterday that he has been quite good for Washington this year, that there were no complaints about him, and that waiving him was a numbers game. He was sitting because he was the odd man out amongst better competitors on a team that is playing well and they were clearing roster space and cap. Now this may or may not be true (I will try to find a link) - but if he were indeed a good citizen, why wouldn’t we be interested ? He would seem made to order because he is legitimately a gifted sniper.Every time a team gets Jakub Vrana thinking they're the ones to polish him off and get a great player, he inevitably gets dumped a few weeks later. At some point you have to stop falling for it and just admit that sometimes it's the player's fault.
My wife says the same thing about the inside of my head but you morons read my stuff anyway. The Canucks are a massive mess. Trying to figure out what is going on there is pointless
While I agree itd be an anchor if it doesnt work out, its certainly a chance you can take if youre confident he can play to 75% of his deal (with a future cap raise, i dont buy the Trump nonsense)His 11.6 million dollar cap hit is insane if he doesn't regain his form.
