Jack didn't change his game after his first shoulder injury, why would he automatically change after his second injury?
*Third shoulder injury

I don't know man. I'm not saying it's a given. But it's a lot easier to get back on the horse after one or two falls, but three serious injuries? I know a lot of posters here keep calling these "fluke" injuries, but how could Jack possibly not consider *himself* more prone to these injuries at this point?

Even setting aside the physical concern of the shoulder being injury prone and possible permanent damage impacting his effectiveness…there’s the potential mental ramifications that could negatively impact his effectiveness. How is he supposed to go out there and play to his full capacity knowing he could blow out his shoulder at any moment?

If he doesn’t becoming damaged goods after this it will be a miracle.

And as fans we have to bank on this leadership group to potentially replace Jack at this juncture when even with him they still haven’t managed to graduate this team to consistent playoff team yet?

This is a nightmare scenario.
this is why you asking about his shoulder history was a practice in futility; you were always going to turn it into the biggest possible negative

Sure, Sidney Crosby went from being a single hit away from retirement with scrambled brains to nearly completing his career as a top-5 player ever; but Jack's shoulder is going to both destroy him physically and mentally

Youre just looking for reasons to be upset at this point

Point still stands regardless what number it is, a player of his caliber would understand that injuries are part of the game. No one mentions how he got kneed by Wahlstrom in 2022 and his season ended there + his skating never got hampered by it like one would assume. He still does the same maneuvers in the corners that leaves his legs exposed to such contact.

Shoulder injuries, like concussions, are more susceptible after previous injury. I truly don't know why some people are so determined to ostrich neck this stuff about our most important player suffering three major shoulder injuries before his 24th birthday. I mean, I do, it's just not very believable.

So yeah, there are no absolutes about anything. Jack could very well come back, be just fine, and never have another shoulder injury. The nature of those injuries says that's probably the less likely of those two scenarios, though. And that just sucks.

I should mention also, it's not confirmed this is a shoulder injury just yet. So, we'll just see, I guess.

do you understand how a message board works, or?
If that's your response to that observation, I'm very sure that you don't.

It's easy to say that. But going through grueling rehab year after year has to be taxing mentally. There's no indication this is an issue yet for Jack, I'm just saying I wouldn't blame him if it was, frankly.

Maybe we need Devils Team Discussion: Smackdown Edition where we can have hyperbole and all the poster on poster posts anyone could want and we could get back to um … well… lack of centers and concern for scoring now that jacks out a few weeks
Need a thread where we all insult each other and say horrible things so that every thread doesn’t devolve into Jacks future shoulder health, Zacha reunion, Boq being the one that got away, and a Timo vs Zetterlund argument.

PuckPedia is saying he has to be signed by Aug 15th, 2027 - which seems to make sense as he's only in his 2nd year of college. He'll be 22 before the start of next season, so have to think he likely goes pro after this season at BU, though being the captain there if they come up short this season and could win it all next year maybe he returns for his Junior year.
If that's true, the kid was drafted in June 2021 and could have his rights held by the drafting team for 6 years! I didn't realize that could happen.

It's called personal messages...use that if you want to attack each other. Or the more healthy version is just to USE THE IGNORE BUTTON and/or report posts you think are against the rules. In addition to attacking other posters on the board being against HF rules, the rest of us are just tired of reading the same pissing contests between the same posters anyway.

Oh I’m sorry, I forgot you are the arbiter of what is or isn’t allowed to be talked about here. I didn’t know pondering a worst case scenario with Jack was off limits.
Every scenario you ponder is "worst case".

Jack may never be the same player. Or he may come back fine and never have another shoulder injury the rest of his career. Short of saying "f*** it, it's not worth the risk" and trading him I'm not sure what you want us or the Devils to do.

Most teams don't have foolproof backup plans for superstar players being injured. We're lucky that we at least have Nico. We already need a #3 center since Haula looks washed and Mercer is clearly not a center. How much cap and assets do you want to commit to a #3 center though?

Maybe the hockey gods will reward us Quinn Hughes after all of this
Im still working on a Jack clone in my basement. It’s not working yet but I won’t give up. I’ve progressed to the point of human but unfortunately it was more like Max Birbraer but I’m sure the results will improve with time. I need a nap first
