I'm seeing 2.76 pts/60 at ES in 21-22. In 18-19 he put up 2.89. This year he's at 2.06.

When was the last time this team won a game they shouldn’t have won? The OT win against the Islanders? That was like 3 months ago.

Slow team with bad shooting and low offensive zone time and barely above average shooting speed.
Then the 21-22 rate is 2.71, and 2.58 in 18-19. 1.84 this year.
The bigger 5v5 issue this year though is his goal rate is .69 per 60 which is a career low aside from 30 something games as a rookie. He was typically above 1 in SJ including 1.21 in 18-19.
5v5 shot rate is also a career low.

He’s missing a bunch of goals at 5 on 5 this year based on his chance creation. I don’t think there would be much of an observable difference in his play other than it just not going in. And I guess it’s expected to have fewer individual chances and shots when you’re not the clear number 1 option on a horrible team.
Not finishing is a big part of the problem though. And though he was not typically this bad, finishing was never a strength. His 5v5 shooting % is actually better this year then his last 2 seasons in SJ. He just got a bunch more shots on net in those years.........though he is getting nearly as many shots off this year. So missing the net more, and not burying them when he does get them on net.
Should be noted SJ was good in 18-19.

His production that year is about what we should expect from him. Hopefully he can get close to that if he finishes the year anything like last year (17 goals in the final 23 games).

I have no issue with Fitz right now. Maybe in a year or so if we just don’t address anything but the contract situation is good longterm (Palat / Dougie are movable), and the D pipeline is pretty stacked.
He’s made the right moves when needed. Moving on from Graves / Severson when they got horrible deals elsewhere is a nice bonus.

That’s a weird reference to make considering only one team was given the chance to trade for Luka, so you want us to be the ones to get ripped off just to ‘do something’ or you expect a deal to fall in our laps because of Fitz’s powers of persuasion?

I am pissed that Fitz hasn’t done anything to address the lack of C / forward depth but he can’t really do anything because we have no cap room and only players we should get rid of to make cap room , we can’t because they have NMC ‘s .
So we are basically screwed . Which is still Fritz’s fault for handing out the NMC’s in the first place.
I am so pissed right now about the Rags adding Miller . I don’t want to hear any more stupid bullshit about anyone saying “ I’m glad we didn’t get him ! He is a cancer in the room ! He is going to decline soon enough ! His contract is bad ! “
The guy is a 100 point C that can play a gritty / complete game / win face offs / makes everyone on the ice with him better .
Ya … yuck … who wants that … let’s rock out with Dowling as our 2C . Let’s just hope we magically start to not suck and think our “ system “ will keep our heads above water until Nico / Markstrom / Haula etc are back .
What happens if anyone else gets hurt ? What happens if Jack or Bratt or Meier gets hurt ? Just keep on plugging the same old scrubs into the lineup and hope that we don’t miss a step ?

Thing is , it might be too late then. We piss away an entire year of Jack / Bratt bargain contact years . We have a finite window to compete while we have our core locked up under good contracts.

Core is good, and here longterm cheap. A Nico injury exacerbates so many things because he’s integral to every phase of the game. We need C depth regardless and I think it’ll get addressed.

I agree. If they blow it and miss the playoffs because of depth issues you toss Fitz aside. But you don’t do it now sitting in a playoff spot, when this may only be a small blip and the issues will likely be addressed.
It kind of the other end of the spectrum of giving a coach an extension mid-season because the schedule was softer in the first half and the team rode a shooting percentage bender .
Im not saying fire Fitz now. Im saying you consider it if they miss the playoffs . It would be twice he wasted seasons by not being active / too conservative with his actions . We lost a season already due to piss poor goaltending. Something should have been done prior to that happening . It feels like things have a possibility of going sideways if something isn’t addressed here soon IMO regarding lack of forward / C depth .

It’s been bad hockey for over a month. They have 5 wins in a month. They’re a much slower team than years past and can’t control the offensive zone, and the finishing is horrible. They also lack depth and have a gm that has done nothing to fix the teams scoring issues that have been prevalent for 2 and a half months now, all while every team in the metro has made moves to get better.
We are only 5 points up on a Blue Jackets team that had no playoff expectations after they lost their best player this off season.
We also have no cushion for the garbage play they keep showing given we have the most games played in the league.
Fitz loses his job if they miss the playoffs. Hes failed enough, he doesn’t get to keep his job if his shitty team fails to make it yet again because he’s too slow on pulling the in season trade trigger.

You cant say he's being conservative. Just because he hasnt made a trade doesnt mean hes been conservative, it could simply mean that he cant find a trading partner. I dont want a GM that just goes out and makes a one sided deal because your not playing great hockey. If we have learned anything its that trades take time to build. Seems like not a lot of teams are willing to sell yet.
Id bet money that a ton of teams are waiting until this mid season tournament is over because if anyone gets hurt will will drive up the price on the rentals and players that are available.
Like any year we dont know what he is really up to he could be talking to 15 GMs about deals who knows. Miller was a pipe dream here, i would have liked him to but that would have been a big deal because we would have needed to send money out.
No point in getting mad yet, if the deadline comes and goes with no moves have at it.
We all know what the weakness is on the roster so does he.

Making a trade just to make a trade is plain stupid. Show me a trade that makes us better for this season, that hopefully helps build for next year or that at least doesn’t hurt us in the future.

Every one of those teams except for Carolina and Dallas is on the outside looking in of the playoffs. You don't 'have' to make moves a month before the deadline when you're in a playoff spot. It'd be nice but I'm more worried about the guys we have here playing better before I get all hot and bothered about outside additions.
