Timo was never gonna be the same guy he was in SJ after he got traded, he had like 7-8 shot games regularly. You're going to get Timo from like 2016-2019 ish where the Sharks were competing for the West regularly and he had 30 goals and 60 points a year while being a bruising top 6 forward. We probably slightly overpaid him but he also came off a career year, was one of the best players in that year's playoffs for NJ and had ALL the leverage in contract talks. He had a perfect storm for his contract
I've been the president of the Alex Holtz fan club on this board but yeah I'm not gonna lie once I saw that Grier didn't want Holtz even with the success he had with Eklund in the SHL, it was a bad sign for his trade value around the league
Mercer, Nemec+++ for Cozens?
I'd be all over Dylan Cozens if we could make it work
Timo will have a week where he rips off like 6 goals. I like how he’s been playing. That line was dominant last night and he looked really good in particular.
I don't think Cozens is the next Reinhart or Bennett deal.
It seems our style is finding players who are blocked or underappreciated - Siegs, Cotter, etc - than players who underperform.
He's probably better than he's been showing but I mean what reason is there to believe the guy is even considerably better than someone like Mercer? I'm not trading for Cozens making over 7 mil on pace for 17 goals 37 pts and sucks defensively. The only year Cozens had any real success was the year the Sabres went full send and didn't give a single f*** about defense. Cozens did have 31 goals 68 pts but he also shot nearly 15% and has never even eclipsed 9% in any other year. Cozens isn't all that good and is on a bad contract.

I am all for this because it stops the cycle of violence Bjorkstrand has inflicted upon us.

Edit: I don't know how it works cap-wise, though.

Eh, Stutzle is really really good too his own regard.
Yeah, I think the issue is where is Cozens as a player. He might be somewhere in the middle of this year and his 68 point year, the thing I like him about is his shot but yeah he leaves a lot to be desired defensively. Also maybe the out of Buffalo bump helps him out
If we make a package for a big forward, I think Fitz has eyes/heart set on Brady if there's any legit movement there
Sure but he's not Jack. He's not Bratt or Nico either
The thing that somewhat scares me about Brady is I doubt he'd re-sign. I imagine he's going to St Louis or Florida after his deal is up. Obviously 3 or 4 years of him is still great but I'd want more considering it'd take an arm and a leg to get him
Brady's wife is from NJ, I'm sure she'd tell him to stay in NJ + them having a house here in the offseason. The Fitz ties to the Tkachuk family would be tremendous help too. Plus, I'm not giving Fitz any grief about contracts after what he did with Bratt and his agent (Pretty sure Bratt's GF helped with that too since she's from NJ as well and probably wanted to stay close to home) Gotta thank a lot of women for this Devils core
Yeah I know about all the ties he has here (also Hughes' and Tkachuk's are close) but idk still get the feeling he'd end up leaving. Leaving for St Louis is probably not going to happen but idk I think he'd go join Matthew down in Florida. St Louis seems like an end of career thing
Palat from 5 years ago and McLeod if he wasn't a rapistHave no interest in Brady Tkachuk - what the Devils need, ideally, is Ondrej Palat from 5 years ago and maybe an upgrade for the 3rd line somewhere.
