I really wouldn’t envy being in Fitz position this offseason. Each of the rumored “targets” have such big question marks that would still leave me feeling not so confident about the goalie position. Sure, it’s almost impossible for it to be worse than last season, but we need someone who can help win games now and down the road.

Calgary's roster construction is borderline maniacal. They have 6 forwards that will hit UFA next year and every forward signed past that is 31+. Zary and Pospisil are their only forwards that will still be RFAs when their contracts expire. They could be looking at completely rebuilding their forward group over the next two years outside of Huberdeau, Kadri, Coleman, and Backlund.

I used to love the player but it's been a very long time since he was good. He's now the worst player in the league (literally) and needs to be bought out.

Oh, I thought by pickles you meant Vlasic and not Coleman!?

To be serious, it looks like Coleman just had a career year. Not sure he'll ever score 30 goals or 50 points again. He didn't before this year. This was his first year in Calgary where he even hit 20 goals or 40 points and he played 81 and 82 games in his first two seasons there.

I wonder if he's seen now as having the most value he'll have while still on that contract?

Coleman's contract isn't THAT bad given what he provides, which is everything. Obviously his age is a concern, but he just put together a career year.

I don't know how much Calgary would be willing to retain on Coleman even if we sweeten the pot. I can't even think up of what would be worth giving up for him retained.

i think if it’s between Ullmark Markstrom and Saros, the only player i can see even comparable to a 10oa pick is Juuse.

i am not sure a package of Holtz + 10 is enticing enough. i think they would want a better roster player.
