Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - 2026-27 offseason part III

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Yeah absolutely. What if we traded for Robertson and then Dallas flips those assets to acquire Larkin. Would you be upset? If we traded for Robertson I would hope we could resign him for 12.5 max. These new numbers are too high for me. I think he’s really good but not 15 aav good which is probably why Dallas would be willing to trade him even though they are contenders
I wonder if a three way trade could make sense. Robertson to NJ, Larkin to DAL, and roster players + picks to DET.

Are we really penciling in Grits on the top 6?? Really?

This is why we get in the situations we get in:
-Holtz
-Mercer
-Rango

13 Goals in 66 games. That's all we saw.

Love the kid but let's see what he can do on the 3rd line for a season OR move him for a guy we can confidently assume will hit 40 goals AND play every game
While I don't disagree on principle, there's one big difference with Grits and the others you mentioned, he seems like a dude who's willing to work and do the little things. Holtz never was, Mercer coasts for weeks at a time, Rango while we all love the dude's personality off the ice seems content with being the one-dimensional streaky scorer that got him his contract in Calgary.

Yes I would. His underlying numbers were as elite as they come.

He scores 20/25 with good linemates and more ice time

I do think Grits is better than those guys.

I just like Robertson for this team, at this time, better.

I want to have Robertson on the team but not if he is going to cost so much and have a massive contract. I’m sick of my favorite team giving out huge contracts with nmc I’m jealous of all the other teams with 15+ million in cap space. Buffalo is my guess to get Robertson. They just got rid of byram and tuch and have the 4th overall pick just seems like a fit. I hate the kovacevic and markstrom extensions so much!!

I can’t recall a Devils player that showed what Gritsyuk did last year and then went on to not be good.

Holtz and Sharangovich as comps? Nah, what he has going on under the hood is closer to young Bratt. And he turned into one of the better wings in the NHL with more opportunity.
